I understand this is a hypothetical, but here's really what this question asks:
What person that you don't personally have a stake in (relatives friends or God) has made enough of a celebrity impression on you that you've elevated them higher than every other person who's ever lived and died. When I say celebrity, it doesn't necessarily mean they were only famous for goofy reasons, but still, how could anyone in good conscience:
*Raise someone from the dead, thinking they know or even not knowing where that person was (i.e. heaven, already reincarnated, flower food, etc.)
*Choose one person (whom they don't personally know) and deciding that THAT person deserves a second chance at their former life - when clearly the choice made would still likely be a selfish one for the person making the decision (i.e. they personally liked the dead person's life agenda and it's impact on the society they live in)
Anyway, didn't mean to wax on philosophical, but if someone gave me that option, I think I'd have to pass.

A little childish perhaps, but i would love to bring the kid's author, Roald Dahl back to life. He got me through numerous illnesses and some of the worst days of my childhood. Even now I might sometimes read a short story by Mr. Dahl. If you have a kid, or a little sister like i do, borrow his books for him or her. He is (was) really a good man with a kind heart that brought joy to the lives of many children. And he was innocent in his soul and believed in God even after the horrors of his service in World War II, where he undoubtedly witnessed unspeakable things. I long for the good old days when kids were sheltered from the cruel realities of the world till they were out on their own.

Hey look your not being selfish people if you want someone back from the dead. Especially if they were close too you and they meant a lot to you. If you have ever experienced a loss you know how much time you wish for that person to be back. IF the person is close to you are not being selfish in your denial your grieving the loss of someone close to you. This is not being all about you! I have lost my Grandma and my other Grandma and my dog and my Grandpa and my Great Aunt and I was close to all of them. Every day I wish I could see them because I am only fourteen and I barley got more then five years with these people. This is not being selfish its grieving the loss and wanting loved ones back. ! If I could have only one person back it would be my Grandpa because he died a few years before I was born and I want to meet him or my dog!

Well A) I couldn't bring just one back, I'd have to bring about 5 back (car accident) and B) I think that what has happened in the past was planned before I was born, and that is what made me who I am today.

British author John Galsworthy (1867-1933). I have read and reread his "Forsyte Saga" many times over the past 35 years, and I wish I could have met him and known him in person. It would be interesting to see what he thinks of the world in the 21st century, and how different it is from the Victorian, Edwardian, and post-World War I world he knew.

I really wouldn't bring anyone back from a spiritual state to come back to a mere physical state. But for sake of playing along I would pick Princess Di. I think she would have continued to make a great impact on this planet.

Richard Feynman. Though a Nobel laureate in Physics, he was also an outstanding all round scientist who delighted in debunking crack pot theories. He would have blown all this Global Warming rubbish straight out of the water.
