with talking about Jesus in Israel. Can you give me pointers on saving souls in Israel? Apparently you cant preach Jesus's message of love to the very people that he came from.

Before I proceed, let me state that there are Messianic Jews in Israel. and if you go to the website for our Messianic Jewish congregation/community in Bath, OH, you will see links to several newspapers and a video clip of these groups:

http://www.rosh-pinah.org/Rosh-Pinah/Welcome.html

They do meet with resistance, but their legion is growing. The important thing is, these groups understand that ministering to the people of Israel about Yeshua (Jesus) is not an attempt to persuade people to stop being Jewish, but, in fact is to strengthen them as Jews.

Let me ask, when you say that one wants to preach Jesus' message to the "very people that he came from," --"Do you mean He went FROM someplace TO another place?" as in He went FROM JUDAISM TO CHRISTIANITY?

If so, and if this is what your friends believe, then my first pointer would be to get to know the facts before you try to save any souls. Because those people who believe that they need to get one from Israel to forsake their Jewish identity and their Jewish faith in order to believe in Jesus is precisely why these others, who appear to be Messianic Jews, are being denied their citizenship, and that is sad. These people are being called "missionaries" which is not true because they are trying to get Jews to see the truth....and the truth is NOT that they should stop being Jews.

Your friends would have to understand the full implications behind Genesis 15, in which YHWH/GD promised that He would be GD to the Jews everlasting, and give them their own land.

If your friends want to minister to those in Israel, they need to understand why Yeshua (meaning salvation, not merely Jesus a Savior) came to mankind, and the full meaning of the Book of Hebrews, Book of Romans, and the books of the Old Testament.

Your friends would need to understand that a Messianic Jew is a Christian, and know why it is totally impossible to be Messianic and not be Christian.

It would help if your friends knew the background of Israel, and the 6000 years of Judaic history, can relate Isaiah 53, Ezekiel 34, Daniel 9, Jeremaiah 31, and other prophets to the arrival of Yeshua. They should know that Jesus was not just the Savior, but coming forth to fulfill the prophesies and be Salvation.

They would have to know the difference between being a member of Jews for Jesus, which tries to get a Jew to forsake his/her Jewish identity, and being a Messianic Jew, who believes that before even was a Jew there was a Messianic believer.

They'd have to know why the TRUE believer in Yeshua, Jesus, does not convert FROM JUDAISM, BUT TO JUDAISM...the true Judaism, not the rabbinic beliefs. And if any of what I said is a foreign concept to your friends, then I would support their not being allowed to preach to the Jews, as one who has come from being a rabbinic Jew to being a Messianic believer.

They would have to know who Jesus was speaking to when he spoke about rabbis, and hypocrites--and who was he NOT SPEAKING to.

They would have to know why a Messianic Jew is a completed Jew and a churchgoer who becomes a TRUE Christian...meaning understanding the true and complete meaning of the New Testament, is the one converting to Judaism, and not the other way around...because the Messianic Jew has already been granted certain promises, but has not completed the journey, while one who was not born Jewish may be saved, but must convert to Messianic Judaism if he/she is to believe as Jesus believed.

Can they handle the questions of the Jews in a way that affirms Judaic beliefs...and understand the history of the Jews---including how the state of Israel was formed, and why?

Read the book What the Rabbis Knew about the Messiah. If your friends belong to a particular sect of a church, Join a Messianic Jewish group. Understand the in's and out's well enough to stand toe-to-toe and debate with a rabbi, and still be able to use Judaic arguments. Use the Tanakh/Old Testament to prove one's point about the existence of the Messiah ben Yoseph, not the New Testament, and use the New Testament to support the arguments, not to make them.

I am not coming on your case, I would love to see someone who can bring more people over to believing in the way Yeshua believed---but that means deepening their Jewish identity, not forsaking it.

Know what Tanakh, Torah, Brit Hadasha, YHWH, Yeshua, is all about. Understand how to thwart Rashi, Maimonides, Hillel's arguments. For instance, why is Isaiah 53 NOT about Israel, but is about Yeshua?

If your friends can do this, then they will know why it is not "THE VERY PEOPLE JESUS CAME FROM" but the people who GD CAME TO...and why Jesus said First He came for the Jew.

When it is God's time to deal with Israel, Go will not need a gentile to teach them, God already has 2 Prophets in Isreal that will do that job & then the 144,000 will learn from those 2 prophets. It is just right now it is not God's due time, but very soon it will be, Now you do have few Messihnic Jews that does take Jesus Christ as their savior, & our church website goes into Isreal, & there are just a few that listen in, because it is not yet time for ALL of Isreal to see the truth.

That's interesting in light of the fact that they allowed the Mormons to build a "learning center" near the Temple Mount.

You can probably go there and talk with people on an individual basis, but not as a pastor, just as a "tourist."

Jesus spoke at the temple when He was only 12. So anyone can at least try. Become part of a missionary. 23 members of my Catholic church went to Israel 4 yrs ago and they spoke about Jesus. I don't know if there were any conversions but at least they spread His word.

Israel has more on its plate nowadays than dealing with a gaggle of wacko American Christian fundamentalists. Why not go over there and help the only democracy in the Middle East to survive?

Its hard to convert Jews to Christianity. I know ! Either you got to be beautiful or rich or very smart or Jewish yourself. You have to be on their level. Most of them stay Jewish just because soo many of them had to die for their faith in WW2. As Christians we are to love the Jews. Feel free to talk to them about Christianity, I think the bible talks about a time when many will come to Him. Learn the language, look nice and everything. Good luck !

Why are Christians so arrogant to think Jews need to find Jesus. Jews are happy the way they are stay away. Work to improve yourself before you go preaching to G-D's chosen people.. o self righteous fool.

The people of Israel today is different from the people of yesteryears at the time of Jesus Christ. They are ignorant about him as you do.

Umm.. how about letting them believe what they want to believe? Yes, preaching about Christ is fine, but if they don't want to hear it- and it really is against the law there right now- then it isn't going to do you any good. There is a reason why it's closed to preaching of ANY kind over there. Maybe we should respect their wishes and just let them be.
