I'v been following a "bodybuilders diet" for the past few months since I started going to the gym, I eat alot of grilled chicken because its high in protein and low in fat but to be honest it tastes rather bland, can anyone recomend some SIMPLE ways I can make it taste better? it needs to be quite simple and not too time consuming because I can't cook and I'm really too busy to spend hours messing about in the kitchen!
Are there and "ready made" products that I can buy from the supermarket ?
Thanks!

GRILLED CHICKEN AND VEGETABLES WITH WILD RICE

introduction
A marinade of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, herbs and spices perks up the grilled chicken and vegetables in this dish. It's all served with wild rice.

serving size
Serves 6.

ingredients
1 1/2 cups balsamic vinegar

1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup chopped fresh oregano or 1 1/2 tablespoons dried
1/3 cup chopped fresh sage or 1 1/2 tablespoons dried
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
8 large skinless boneless chicken breast halves

2 cups (12 ounces) wild rice, cooked according to package directions

2 large red onions, cut into 3/4-inch-thick rounds
3 zucchini, trimmed, cut lengthwise into thirds
3 Japanese eggplants, trimmed, cut lengthwise into thirds
2 large red bell peppers, seeded, cut into 1-inch-wide strips
Additional chopped fresh oregano
Additional chopped fresh sage

preparation:

Combine first 7 ingredients in large glass baking dish. Add chicken, turning to coat. Cover and chill 2 to 4 hours.
Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Spread rice in center of large platter. Remove chicken from marinade and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill until just cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer chicken directly from grill to platter and arrange atop rice.

Add vegetables to marinade and turn to coat. Transfer to barbecue. Sprinkle vegetables with salt and pepper and grill until just cooked through, about 6 minutes per side for onions and 4 minutes per side for zucchini, eggplants and peppers. Transfer vegetables directly from grill to platter and arrange atop rice with chicken. Pour marinade into small saucepan and bring to boil. Brush over chicken; drizzle lightly over grilled vegetables. Sprinkle with additional chopped herbs and serve.

Quick, easy, flavorful ideas for grilled chicken:

1. You can drizzle a little honey mustard dressing on it. You can get a bottle (low fat if you like) at the supermarket.

2. You can drizzle a little BBQ sauce on it (the flavors are endless at the supermarket....smokey, sweet, spicy, etc)

3. You can slice it up over a salad

4. You can marinate the chicken in an Italian dressing before you grill it (again, bottles of the dressing are at the grocery store....even fat free)

5. Try a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.

6. Here's a recipe that doesn't sound too hard....you can do it with or without the sauce:

Saucy Chicken Grillers

Ingredients:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1-2 teaspoons red pepper (depending on taste)
1 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
1 cup olive oil
1/4 cup mustard
1 tablespoon horseradish

Cut chicken into strips. Mix the following: dry mustard, red pepper, onion salt, 1/4 cup of honey, parsley flakes and oil. Put mixture into baggie and add chicken strips. Marinate for 1-4 hours. Grill chicken strips over hot coals 2 minutes each side, or until juices run clear. Serve with dipping sauce made with mustard, horseradish and remaining honey.

Number of servings: 4

You can buy ready made marinades from the supermarkets.
But its easy to make your own.
here's a quick one:

Lemon and cracked pepper chicken.

In a clear plastic freezer bag, put a squirt of olive oil, squirt of lemon, cracked pepper and pinch if salt..( you can at this stage add garlic and/ or chili.
Put the chicken in the bag and bash to get the flavours running through.
Leave it for 10 minutes minimum (although its better if you say make it in the morning and have it for your evening meal.
Then just grill or bake as you usually do.

Have you tried marinating in Italian Light Salad Dressing...gives it flavour, is light..moistens the chicken and you can marinate the vegetables also.

Not sure what the "bodybuilders diet" consists of....but you can get protein in other things besides chicken. Fish is also very good for you*

Try grilled chicken marinated in italian dressing and slice into wedges...put over a tossed green salad or ceasar salad (with oil/vinegar dressing rather than the thick rich dressing).

GoodLuck*

Okay, don't know your diet well but I tried experimenting recently and found this to do with Veg and Chicken

Put roughly chunky chopped carrots, courgettes, cherry tomatoes, garlic, chestnut mushrooms in a baking tray and sprinkle with olive oil and fresh whole basil leaves. season if you want. Place in a 190-200degree oven for 30 mins turning once.
With this take chicken breast and carefully slice a pocket in it and fill it with goat Feta cheese and sliced black olives. and lay a Basil leaf on top.
Put the chicken in the oven on a tray at the same time as the Vegetables.
Serve the chicken on top of the veg.

This is really simple and you only have to check on it once! Goats Feta is better dairy than Cows cheese as well.

Try it. I really liked it!

i'm surprised no one mentioned this one yet. BEER CAN CHICKEN. you don't have to use beer, but i like it that way. buy a whole fryer chicken (it's the medium sized ones at the grocery store), open a can of beer, drink or pour out half of it, ram it up the chickens cavity, throw on a grill with indirect heat, and cook until internal temp is 180 degrees or juice runs clear when poked with a fork. all the beer does is keep it moist from the evaporating liquid. also, the aluminum can distributes heat to the inside so you're cooking from the outside and inside at the same time. for seasoning use whatever you like and rub on the outside. i like to make a rub using kosher salt, brown sugar, paprika, cayenne pepper, ground mustard, dried rosemary and dried sweet leaf basil.

You can stuff the chicken with vegtables, that you like, before you grill it. It would be tasty.
Tip: To make the recipe more interesting add the herbs you like into the chicken, it would make a difference.Good Luck
Plus you would get a lot of recipes for Grilled Chicken and Vegtables , if you type it on google

The easiest and most inexpensive way to add flavor is to use marinades. You can buy already made bottles or make your own. I use fat free Italian salad dressing on chicken and veggies. You can make your own by throwing together whatever flavors you like; garlic, paprika, ginger, soy sauce, cracked pepper, onion powder, etc. Mix a little olive oil, vinegar, water, fat free milk as your liquid base and you might be surprised at what a chef you are! By the way...what time is dinner? ;-)

1st off, attempt Pam cooking spray. various the cooking sprays have olive oil ones. Now i'm form of at a loss for words, a time-honored grill or GF Grill? time-honored, merely season the rooster and positioned it on the grill. you need to use non stick foil too! greens on the time-honored grill, cut back them, spray them with Pam( or in spite of you utilize) sprinkle with seasoning (there's a veggie seasoning available in dry sort) then wrap it up. positioned on the grill quarter-hour one side, then turn them for yet another 8 or so minutes. Very delish!!
