I work at a psychiatric unit in Sydney & let me tell you, all of us nurses & doctors are the only sane Atheists in the place. Almost all of our patients talk to themselves, mostly about god. We give them Valium for their delusions.

Questions about the moral fiber of atheists vs Christians always intrigue me.
Here's a bit of statistical data that can be found on the U.S. bureau of prisons website.
The population of the USA is made up of 75% Christians and 10% atheists.
The prison population in the U.S. is made up of 75% Christians, which is no surprise.
The atheists prison population, however, is only four tenths of 1 percent.
One would think that atheists, who have no moral fiber, would be filling our prisons in greater numbers than in our general population. It is odd, I think, that people with no fear of God don't seem to violate the laws of man all too much. Does not answering to a higher authority make people more civilized or less civilized?

They are not accountable for their own actions and live through a 2000 year old blueprint.
If you talk out against a higher self or the greater good, then the bible does not cover this topic and therefor they can only quote statements and if they know that the athiest really does not accept these statements they will say you are heartless
After all, what else can they say? They need a figment of the immagination to believe that life is worth living... If you dont have this you are real, you are living. This is something you cannot do according to god.
Id put a bullet in god and doubt him more than anything else because im strong enough to accept ill be dead in 40 years.

well having travelled round the world for years and experiencing many cultures I have to say, I think I prefer atheists to religious types. All I have seen of religion is hate, war and killing, which is kind of ironic, as the God types are supposed to believe in love and forgiveness.
Sorry you biblebashers, I have not seen much evidence of that. Only thing the religious seem excel in is hate, intolerance and hypocrisy.
...and for to those American ""Creationists "who believe the earth was made in 6 days, despite all scientific evidence....are these people serious?
If so, I think a spell in a mental hospital ward is probably called for!

it seems a thought in some sort of 'creationist" attitude is organic (see source under) of course, this does not advise the belief is actual, and serious examination of it is going to coach it falls aside. yet as quickly as we pass from those usual varieties of ideals to the particular ideals of a particular religious custom, the claims being made make common predictions with regard to the worldwide. for occasion, asserting God is all solid predicts a universe the place effects might strengthen goodness. in spite of if we upload in a "devil", that should only advise we'd see swings from solid to evil, and the undeniable fact that this "God" is supposedly extra efficient might nonetheless weight issues in the direction of the solid. we don't see any of this. The universe is impartial. for this reason, this is not any longer only that there is not any longer information for a deity. as quickly as we supply particular features to mentioned deity, it turns right into a prediction that could incredibly be shown fake. whilst human beings are uncomfortable with information based assertions, it says extra with regard to the guy than the fact. As for the countless regress of creators, that's philosophically frustrating. the belief of causation, and for this reason creation, in trouble-free terms has a meaning interior of area-time. If there is not any earlier and after (time), there could be no reason *earlier* an consequence. for this reason, on account that "God" is meant to exist exterior of time, to ask what created (brought about) God has no meaning, and no answer is needed. of course, this holds actual for any available source of the universe, and it does not supply any privileged place to the belief of a deity.

I agree with you that your average theist can be pretty damn brainwashed--but that still doesn't stop them from being first class sons-of-bitches and conniving assholes. The attitude that you describe is also a tactic which christians and other religionists frequently use to belittle your way of thinking because it does not agree with theirs!
They will then offer to "help you find you" through a new "life in Christ" F*** them and their plaster idols! Just always return the favor to them and be equally condescending in the way you refer to their pinchbeck "god". That usually pisses them off for some reason.

English major, answering question from (almost) linguistic standpoint -- "heart" has emotional connotations. Following any religion has at least a small, and in many cases large, emotional investment. Atheists choose not to follow any religion (unless they consider atheism a religion), and thusly have no emotional investment per se. This gives the incorrect label of heartless. Anybody of any religion who cares about their fellow person has a heart.

Religious people need to find a way to demonize those who don't believe in their world-view in order to feel special about themselves.

Atheist are lost because they have not accepted Christ. I find that you are lumping all "religious" people into one group, as if we all believe the same things and say the same things about atheists. Who is brainwashed?
I believe God has proven to the world He exists. Those who do not accept Him are as the Bible says; they don't know what they are doing, they are fools and without God have no real direction.
The best thing to do is get the facts and instead of knocking what you call "religious people" pick up a Bible and ask God to show you what you need to see.

They believe everything that a pastor tells them and have probably never met an atheist in their life. They are BS'ing themselves and not looking at reality, but focusing soley on their beliefs that atheists will go to hell.
