Learning all the basics for relationships begin at home. A parent teaches a child how to love, respect, humor, argue, make up, compromise, etc. Parents and children need to understand each other so that they can compromise and feel empathy towards each other.

Say the parent understands the child, but the child doesn't understand the parent. Then, you have a bitter child that thinks the parent is unfair, irrational, and/or ignorant. If you have a child that understands the parent, and the parent doesn't understand the child, you have a child that will always be "in control" of the parent. The child will be able to manipulate the parent, and the child will never respect the parent.

My explanation is really basic, especially when you consider how complex parent/child relationships can be.

so that you guys can stay mutually and harmony under the same roof, or you prefer the kids like soldiers listen to the parents like Hitler? without understanding there will not be respect and love in the family, as simple as that. parents wanted to understand kids so they will know what to do best for them, surprise them and etc, kids wanted to know about their parents coz they love and want to know more about them. Imagine that your father passed away and your friends asked what was your father like when he was 20 years old? Hmmm, i dont know i never ask and he passed away i couldnt ask. Dont you wish you had ask him before? or feel bad for not knowing your father?

so understanding is pretty important

Because if you can't communicate with the people who have been with you since your birth, then you can't communicate with anyone.
