This was the first time I was ever told his, but I just recently had blood tests done, & the doctor said my iron was "a little" low but not that bad. & he prescribed me iron pills. Does that classify me as being "anemic", or is it that my iron would have to be chronically low for me to be considered "anemic"?

Anyone with a low iron count is considered anaemic.
The iron tablets will do the trick.

Low or severly defeciantly low iron count is still labled anaemic.

Take your iron tablets with a glass of orange juice. It boosts the iron's absorbancy. (sp)
If you take them on there own they will take a little longer to work. And the sooner the iron kicks in and raises your levels you will feel so full of energy and not so tierd and dizzy any more.

Woman suffer anaemia quite regularily because of the blood loose, so therefore iron with a period.

I would think that you were anemic at the time your blood was tested and you still may be. However this does not have to be a permanent diagnosis. You can get your iron up and hopefully you will be fine. They may continue to check your levels for a while though. I would think the doctor may consider leaving you on the iron though.

If ur Iron exactly this is Hemoglobin a protein & iron compound which is found in redblood cells & carries oxygen in body is low this is anemia but the severity depends onthe %of Hb.Normal Hb level r 12-14gms%.If ur is below 11gms than this is just a slight anemia & u can build it by eating lots of green leafy vegitables & Fruits rich in iron along with iron pills.

If he is prescribing iron for you, you are anemic but don't panic talk to him about your diet and you can get off the medication...

You are borderline. But with the iron pills and eating a healthy diet you should be fine.
