Have you noticed anything else tasting or smelling funny? It's true the flu will affect these senses.
Try menthol and maybe switch to a lighter cigarette while you're sick . They're easier on the throat.

There is something burning...your cigarette! j/k anytime something affects your sinuses it's going to affect your taste and smell senses. And nothing does that like having the flu, a cold, or anything where mucus starts to form excessively.

I am a smoker that often loses the urge to when I am ill.
I would say that is completely normaly. It is always good to check with a doctor though.
If your cigarettes smell and taste funny, sounds like you have a good opportunity to quit.
