just Christianity or ALL faith-based religions? I usually only see athiests bashing Christians. I just wonder if they bash Muslims, Jews, Hindus, etc.
Also, do athiests not believe in anything they can't see, for instance ghosts, UFO's, yoga, global warming, etc.?

The second part of my question is not silly. If you can't see it, do you not believe in it? Is there anything that atheists take on faith?

I am an atheist, and I tell you an atheist believes in no gods at all. I have had exchanges with Moslems and Hindus. Some are amazed about how much I know about their religions, and some are debating my disbelief. I believe nothing in the strictest sense. A belief is an idea one accepts as true without any evidence for it. I insist upon knowing by looking at all of the evidence and thinking deeply about it. No one can see everything, and that should be obvious. What I can see is evidence for the existence of various things. There is no logical, scientific evidence to support the existence of gods, devils, ghosts, UFO's, etc. Yoga gas some benefits physically, so what do you mean about it? Global warming is debatable, so I do not accept it as proven. I have no firm opinion about such things as that.

Atheism simply means no belief in Gods.
Most atheists are pretty sceptical and don't believe in other unproven stuff.
Yes other religions get their share of bashing but at the moment the Christians are the biggest and loudest bullies on the block so they get the most attention.

By the way. Global warming is a recorded fact. The only things being argued seriously are the mechanisms behind it, and if it is permanent.
It might be partially caused by Solar flares and Sunspot activity. It is pretty certain that burning huge amounts of fossil fuel has an effect. Just look at a satellite picture of Earth at night and try figuring out the wattage of all that light and how much heat that creates.
A simple calculation of all the calories of coal and oil burned will give another idea of how much heat is being added.

Farming has been moving north in Canada, along with the treeline. We have also been having problems with Polar Bears stranded on shore and coming into towns because there isn't any way for them to get to the pack ice. It is expected that the Northwest Passage will very soon be an open seasonal shipping route from Europe to Asia.
It might even be a route that is open all year. They are building ports for ships in the Arctic ocean now.
Northern Canada views Global Warming as a mixed blessing instead of a pure curse.

But belief or lack of belief in Global Warming or little green men has nothing to do with atheism.

There are many types of atheists, or non-theistic people. I think I'm mostly ignostic, but I'm not sure. I don't think I will ever be, because in fact I don't really care about how it's called what I think. The term atheism is just used because it's easy I suppose. The fact that atheists have most comments on christians, is because most questions are asked by christians, and most atheists here have most knowledge of christianity I suppose, and it's easier to find weak spots in what you know.

Global warming is measurable, and you can feel it. Yoga is a kind of concentration practice and self-control practices. It really has not much to do with any kind of spirit outside your own head. I've never seen any ghosts and ufo's, and I believe the human imagination is way too big, and there are too many hoaxes and misinterpretations out there, causing the supernatural like ghosts and ufo's. The human mind is basically made to recognize patterns. If some pattern doesn't match what we know already, we link it to the closest we can make of it.
There might be other "intelligent" life in the universe, but I think it's not very likely they've ever been able to get to earth, and if they did. they were extremely lucky not to go extinct before they figured out how to travel space of very large distances, or not to die during the trip. Atheists do not believe in any god/s, so any theistic religion is out. The reason most atheists on this website talk about Christianity more than the other religions is because there are more Christians here (and usually in the societies in which we live). Not all of us "bash" anything, anyway.

I don't believe in anything supernatural, but this is something that varies from atheist to atheist. We aren't a religion with an established set of beliefs, all we have in common is a lack of theism. So, I don't believe in ghosts or fairies--nothing for which there's no evidence. Yoga is exercise, so of course I believe in that, and global warming has enough science behind it to make it fairly obvious to anyone observant.

I don't believe in any of those religions, no. I also don't believe in ghosts and other paranormal stuff. UFO's I am very skeptical of, if there was enough evidence to support it, I might believe. Yoga to me is an way of exercising, I don't see how its something to be "believed in" really. And Global warming? Beg pardon? I CAN SEE THAT and can feel it too. All one needs to do is look at the evidence.

And to answer the second part about if there's any thing I believe in "on faith", I reckon the closest thing would be love.

I will not speak for other atheists, just myself. I do not believe in god, gods or religions that worship them. Doesn't matter if it is Zeus, the Christian god, the god of Abraham or Allah himself (swt, pbuh) -- whatever. Christian "bashing" occurs, I think, because it is the right wing "convert or perish" bible thumping Christians are the ones who provoke atheists into the bash. There are a few Muslims (few) who do the same.

Ghosts? No. UFO's? No. Yoga? (Uh, I've seen yoga positions, so yes). Global warming...now you're being trite and sassy...Yes, but what do you expect for a planet that is housing a six-fold increase in population since the last global temperature low in the early 20th century, and one that is using fossil fuels. We cannot turn back the clock to the good-old days of horse drawn carriages, hand plows and less than 1 billion inhabitants...at least not yet.

Atheists literally just lack a belief in god or gods, which means that would not believe in the gods of any religion, but may still believe in afterlife, souls, or any variety of the tenets of those religions (or of paranormal phenomenon,or theoretical sciences). The reason why atheists attack Christians is because so many of their teachings are far too dependent upon their God, and they are the largest population of believers in the world (and the majority of the American population also). The Muslims and Jews are bashed by the Christians, so doing so on our part is just excess cruelty. As for the Eastern religions, many have tenets and principles that are profoundly novel to the Western mind, so they are more easily respected, and seen to be less dependent upon gods (and thus,, more believable).

Most of the atheists on the English language section of YA will have much more experience of Christianity than Islam and so feel more qualified to discuss Christian questions.

Atheists believe there is no god or gods at all.
We do believe what evidence shows us.
Your last sentence is a bit daft because I can see yoga and global warming. Unidentified Flying Objects obviously exist but by definition they are unidentified so who knows what they may be?

Atheists do bash all religions, but in North America it's the Christians who are the problem. Deny the Christians drivers' licenses, since by their OWN admission they could potentially have divine visions at the wheel...they are seriously in need of legal guardians.

And there's lots we can't see, but scientists hold the TOTAL MONOPOLY on proving the invisible (planets past Saturn, X-rays, etc.) We have no reason to trust the guidance of Christians lecturing on invisible things, until they start plopping a little PROOF on the slab.

And yoga is quite visible; isn't it those middle-aged women in leotards trying to stave off dowdiness?

An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings. An agnostic is one who believes it impossible to know anything about God or about the creation of the universe and refrains from commitment to any religious doctrine. Infidel means an unbeliever, especially a nonbeliever in Islam or Christianity.

There are all types, some bash, some couldn't care less. its the same with any religious people, there are a lot who just believe what they believe, and then there are others who ware it on their sleeve, and then there are some who are fanatics.
