I think her previous owner was feeding her human food. Also her elimination is very poor. What can I do?

Your vet would probably love to hear that she eats dry food but not wet.

My vet told me to give my three "girls" Science Diet Hairball Light, because they have very thick fur and are subject to hairballs.

They also suggested Laxatone, a syrupy substance flavored with tuna, to help in elimination (because of the fur).

I don't have any idea what breed your cat is (mine are Maine Coon), but she could need something like Laxatone to get her back on track.

Has your vet checked her out? Any recommendations from him/her?

This is for ALL cats healthy or diabetic. Read this. In this page is a listing for

CatNutrition.org provides practical information for the layperson.

http://catinfo.org/ This is a super site written by a DVM specialist in Cat diets and food needs.
There is a section in here that addresses how to change your cat over to an all wet species appropriate diet.
Dry food is supposed to "clean teeth" but it does nothing of the sort. A cat has teeth and jaws of a carnivore and it grabs and shreds and doesn't chew like we do. Ever see what a cat throws up when it is on dry. It is damp dry chunks. Some of the dry shatters when they bit but shattering doesn't clean the teeth. The dry food that are special diets are basically IMHO special for the pet food companies and the Vets who sell them. Special prices and special money in the pockets.
The part on transitioning is starting very slowly putting a teaspoon of wet in the dry. you might want to freeze the wet and take enough out for each day as it will spoil in the cans otherwise. Please check out the sites they are soo good and I learned so much. Bonnie

Mix a little wet with the dry and see if she will eat that.

There's no guarantee your cat will eat wet food. Ours just likes to drink the gravy and that's about it.

Try a little mix but just a little so she does not feel overwhelmed.
If that does not work i would take her to a vet.
Best of Luck

Duh. Take her to the vet. I mean isn't that obvious??

There could be a myriad of reason why she won't eat, from a rotten tooth to urinary tract infection.

Also, you shouldn't just feed your cat 'cat food', cats, like any creature, need variety. They need fresh, raw meat and fish, as well as cat food and dry.
