I have been told I have a warm & open heart.
It sometimes means that you can get hurt. But better to be open hearted & sometimes get hurt, than to be shut off from others, which was how I used to be.
Ive always said we learn our most profound lessons through pain. I have had an incredible amount of pain in my life, but I have to accept (& be grateful) that the pain I have suffered has brought me some of the most profound lessons of my life & made me the person I am today. Without the pain, I would not have the love & compassion that I have. With an open heart I can love others & be loved. With an open heart I can offer what I have, without conditions attached.
Open your heart & dont be afraid. Whats the worst that could happen? You may learn something profound. Or you may simply be loved back.
With love to you my friend.

Quite pain-full without anaesthetic I should think. but in religious terms it means roughly the same as an open mind does in secular terms. Perhaps a slowness to judge and condemn

.OK I actually think it's better not to without wisdom. It's wise to open our hearts to God. But restrict entry unless you trust another person. Then it feels secure. Hearts are funny things and not to be handed about to all and sundry willy nilly.
Can I also just say that I know the popular thing is to be all airy fairy and tell people to open their hearts to all. But I say NO DON'T don't take your hearts emotions to lightly. Look after your emotions like you would your heart as a pump.

It feels good, because not only are you giving love and acceptance to everyone you know, but your heart is also open to receiving love and acceptance from all sources. And that is a wonderful feeling.

Terrific! Of course, my heart is not open literally.

But I bet you are waiting for someone to not include that in an answer so you could make a comeback.

When I opened my heart to receive Jesus as Lord and savior, it was the most incredible felling, total peace and relief.

without anesthetic, probably a heart wrenching experience
but really, it's fun until you run into some haters and bigots like here in R&S and they abuse that trust and naivety
