The first 6-months or so of it's life, the pup will be at the vet quite frequently because of the "puppy shots" and boosters needed. Also getting spayed/neutered around 6 months of age.

After that, your dog should go to the vet once or twice a year for shots/vaccinations and a routine check-up. (I say "twice" because some places like dog day cares, groomers, etc. require bordetella vaccination every 6 months instead of yearly.)

As a puppy..
8, 12 & 16 weeks of age for distemper/parvo vacciantions
20 weeks for rabies vaccinations

6 months for spay/neuter

After that wait a year from date of last vaccinations and then an exam & boosters.
Once that has been completed you only need to do a yearly exam and every 3 years vaccinations along with exam.(if you live in a high exposure risk area you may need to give lepto, kennel cough, lymes and/or parainfluenza vaccinations yearly. if not these vaccinations are NOT needed or recommended)
In between at least 2-3 times a year take a stool sample in for a fecal test and possible deworming.

I work in a veterinary office. We have our adult dogs come in every 6 months. They get their yearly vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, & Bordetella; sometimes Lyme), fecal check, and a heartworm test. Then, we have them come back in 6 months for a Bordetella booster and a fecal check.
Puppies that have not had all of their vaccinations need to be seen by the vet every 2-3 weeks for booster shots until they are done. They usually get 3 Distempers, 2 Bordetellas, 2 Lymes, and a Rabies.

It's pretty frequent until 6 months old Then after than it's back again at 1 year old. Then only once a years for check ups and booster shots.

i would take it every 6 months if it is a puppy. once a year if it is an adult dog.

however, i would suggest going to the vet to get shots and then asking the vet how often THEY think you should take your puppy to the vet. they will know best, depending on your puppy and breed and any problems the puppy might have.

puppies are the best!

My puppy went every month to get her shots and just to check her out. Then once she was caught up with all her shots i think they said about once a year.

Depends - really only needs annual boosters, unless your dog comes in contact a lot with other dogs, then Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccination should be done every 6 months - it's not expensive.

Once they are done their puppy shots, and they are healthy and well taken care of, you should only need to take them once a year.

I'd say at least 4 or 5 times. Maybe even more!
