Why is God's word so complicated? (Little quiz included!!)?

I did a little test, just to see how clear God's word is.

"And the duke has said, "leaves he has to there a scope between the water and separate water of water." Thus the duke has done the scope and the water under the scope of water above its separated. And she was thus. The duke has the scope "sky" mentioned and there same, and day suffered of morning the second."

That's a randomly picked Bible quote. I entered it in Babelfish, and translated it into French, and after that back into English.

Either Babelfish is rather bad (which I don't believe!!), or God's word is rather difficult to translate.

Can you guess which verse it is?

Can you identify what the above two sayings originally were? The first was translated from English to Chinese to French and then into English again, the second from English to Russian back into English again. Since you haven't established any sort of "control group" to compare the results of your "experiment" to, there's no objective standard to determine whether the passage (it's Genesis 1:6-8, by the way) is difficult to translate.

The two adages are: "Out of sight, out of mind" and "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

In order to translate, one must study the meanings and implications of the one language and study the same of the other language and make sure that words and phrases match intended use and purpose, meanings and implications.

For example, there is no Japanese wording for "run away", but there is for "escape". So, what one needs is proper thesaurus type study for the two languages.

What you entered into Babelfish was simple English translation turned French. What is necessary and has been done, is someone who knows how to properly evaluate and translate words from one language to the other, knowing what words or phrases carry the same meaning and impact as the one being translated.

I hope this was not too big a circle.

Also, translating anything from language A to language B and back to language A makes it difficult to understand. The fact that the Bible uses a lot of Middle English words makes it even more difficult.

God's Word is Jesus Christ. Those who have been given wisdom have His word written upon their heart. The bible is His revealed Word, in written form. He has preserved it for the elect, in the KJV, in English, and needs no further translation, other than His Spirit revealing the wisdom to the human mind.

It cannot be understood by those who are not indwelled by His Holy Spirit, and is therefore just as well read as it is translated by Babelfish above.
