Help! I had a file with about 400 songs in it, when I tried to import the songs to itunes I did a 'drag and drop'. Some of the files were in mp3 format and some were wma. when I tried to convert everything to mp3 for my ipod, ALL the mp3 files I did have were deleted. I don't know what happened, they aren't on itunes, not in the original folder and I even did a search on my hard drive... nothing.

I need a recovering program. I've downloaded a few but I don't know what works. Right now, I am downloading DiskInternals Music Recovery. Is this any good??? I know I am missing about 300 songs and I have no problem paying for a recovering program that will allow me to get these back. I just want to make sure that if I do pay, I can for sure get my files back.

Thanks

It is possible to recover files with file recovery software. I reccommend Recuva (pronounced "recover"), it is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

There are two kinds of people: those who have experienced data loss, and those who will. Remember the 3 rules of computing. 1) Back up 2) Back up 3) Back up.

Check your recycle bin, just in case.
Bear in mind, depending on how full your hard drive is, adding more programs onto it may reduce the chances of recovering your files.
