No, they don't, unless it is part of the software package on your machine. You need to buy it, or obtain it through other means. If you are looking to not spend any money, OpenOffice has a great spreadsheet program in it which is comparable to Excel, called Calc, but free. You can download it at www.openoffice.org
Most of the files created by the OpenOffice programs can be saved out in formats that can be opened by the MS Office programs, so compatibility is not a big issue. Try it out.

No, but almost every computer does have some sort of spreadsheet program that is included on it. Normally either the Microsoft Works spreadsheet program, Corel's spreadsheet program (Quattro Pro), or Microsoft Excel comes installed on most PC's. All of those programs will save the spreadsheet in Excel format. If you have the Microsoft Works spreadsheet program, you don't have to install the full version of Excel in order install Excel. All you have to install is the Excel Upgrade. The upgrade version usually is a descent bit cheaper than the full install version and it should have all of the same options.

If yours has none of those on it, then you can install OpenOffice for free if you'd like.

Excel is usually packaged as part of Microsoft Office and the basic package comes with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint. It is NOT automatically installed on a new computer but may be on some of them. If it is on yours, you can find it by going to Start/All Programs/ Microsoft Office/ Microsoft Office Excel. If you don't find it then you will have to either Purchase MS Office at your local retail store (Walmart carries it) or you can just buy Excel - but the MS Office is the better buy as you have access to all the other programs. Hope this helps.

Added Note: If you don't have MS Office then you may have Microsoft Works on your computer and it also has a spreadsheet program in it that I used a lot till I decided to buy MS Office. You can find it by going to Start/All Programs/Microsoft Works/Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.

As stated above, it is a pay for product unless it came packaged with your computer when purchased.

If you have Microsoft Works, the Spreadsheet program is a scaled down version of Excel. It can open the documents for editting, etc.

You may also want to consider Open Office. It has a Excel style product called Calc

A few machines come with Office (and hence Excel) already installed but most don't and you have to pay extra for it.

If you do have Excel installed it will either be listed as Excel on your Start menu or you will have the option to Create a new Office document which will allow a new Excel sheet.

No, it doesn't come with most PCs, though some have a trial version.

Try the free, and M$-Office compatible, Open Office from:

Includes: Writer (like Word), Calc (Excel), Impress (PowerPoint), Base (Access), Draw (M$-Paint) and Math

Just make sure that if you want others to be able to view the documents using M$-Office Word, for example, save them using "Save as..." in .doc format, instead of the default .odt format. Or use the built-in PDF creation feature.
