Why do girls somtimes act dumb for boys?

all my friends do it but i think its stupid why do they do it ?????

they feel pressured ...and want to make them laugh ...but they dont know what to make a joke of , so they think its the best way ...but sometimes it turns out really bad

Believe me,if you're putting on an act! Sooner,or later a situation comes along that you get tired of being thought of as dumb.Or the boys get tired of you! Men ,respect a woman who are smart! And alot of men would take it as an insult,if you try to act dumb,like that's the only way they could appear smarter.Like the girl in the short dress or "hot bod" ,with a flat tire ,in distress by the side of the road.Type situation,most men love to rescue or help.But don't play them,by talking on the phone ,while they fix the tire.Hand them the tools while they help.Be yourself,no one is smart about everything.Everyone has plenty "true dumb moments"! You know I have wonder the same thing. That's why I have more guy friends then girls and that's why I have more guy friends then my girl friends do. They see it as a way to get their attention but in reality that when all the guy is gonna want from you is sex and not a relationship. Guys want someone that they can have a good conversation with and hang with. Its sad really because you just end up degrading yourself and that's not cool. Not to be against our side here but alot a of females are really dumb sometimes and they need to learn that they need to be respected and not act dumb for a guy! If you have to do that to get a guys attention then he is not worth your time!!!!

This comes from a very long time ago. Over thousands of years men being the one with the mussels have threatened the female until now it is in their genes to act like they are not as smart as men. Look at a lot of the world even today. Females are low life compared to men in many nations this very day.

In the developed world where education is had by most females htis is changing and many now living there do not need to use this method. Well not if they are truely intelegent. Even there many females get beaten if they assert themselves very much.

Don't blame the girls and try to understand them. There is a fear there even if they do not realize it is there.

They are trying to persuade boys that they have a sense of innocence and weakness by acting dumb. By showing off the fact that they are too weak/dumb to stand alone, they figure boys will be attracted to them in order to be strong for them. Girls will do pretty much anything to get a hold on a guy.

because they think most guys don't like smart girls and unfortunately that is mostly true guys are intimidated buy girls that are smarter earn more money then them as a women we are supposed to be soft and need a man to protect us take care of us just like our daddies did when we were 3.
You keep on doing what you are doing don't fall into that dumb girl act or you will have to play it the rest of your life if you marry some one with that show and I'm sure you wouldn't want your daughters being that silly and STUPID.

Very simple. At a young age, boys mature a whoooole lot slower than the gals. The boys want to "be manly" and it sure does pull the carpet right out from under their feet when the girl is obviously a ton smarter than the boy. She's able to run rings around him making him look like a doofus in front of his peers. So boys are scared away from "smart gals".

This is the origin of that little jingle "boys don't make passes at gals who wear glasses". The traditional image of the "serious, studious, intelligent schoolgirl" is the one walking to classes, looking straight ahead, serious expression on her face, carrying her books, deep in thought about what she has to learn today,... and the ultimate image of the "intelligent girl"... one wearing glasses. lol.

There's another joking expression...:"If you want to get ahead, get a hat". You might change that to "If you want to get a boyfriend, better keep your brains UNDER your hat.

They believe that it makes them more attractive to the guys. If you play dumb - then the guy feels clever and he will possebly feel like he has to protect you. This can actually work all the up to 50 years of age. Usually guys doesn't mature to more than of an age of 16 years.

You just answered your own question. It is stupid to act dumb. That's also why boys don't respect them. They think it's low self asteem, and sometimes it is, so just be yourself and if they don't treat you right move on and find someone else.

Girls should not have to dumb themselves down to impress a guy they like. You are smart for a reason, and guys shouldn't take that advantage away from you. And actually, most guys would rather have a girlfriend who is smart than have one who feels like they have to dumb themselves down to be with them. And when you say most guys want girls who aren't smart, they are probably the guys who really don't care at all for them, or aren't smart themselves. Guys usually go for the personality anyway, so don't dumb yourself down just to get a guy to like you. Just be yourself, and your guy will surely notice you.

You're right, it is stupid. They do it so as not to intimidate the guy. Fact of the matter is, any guy worth dating would be thrilled to go out with an intelligent woman.
