This is not a matter of "because the Bible says so" this is a matter of "because the State says so" All the Bible say is that if you have more than one wife you are not to hold a teaching or serving office of the Church.... Jim

First of all, God intended one man, one woman. That is why He only gave Adam one wife.
Multiple wives was never God's idea, it was man's...and the first guy to do it was a murderer.
Secondly, if you go back and actually READ the stories of David's and Solomon's home lives, you might not be so excited by the idea of multiple wives. They weren't exactly "living it up" in the ol' harem...as a matter of fact, it was Solomon's female troubles that caused the Kingdom to split.
Finally, Jesus puts paid to the whole notion of polygamy when He firmly states that a man will leave His father and his mother and cleave to his wife (notice, WIFE is singular), and they twain (twain means TWO, not three, four, or more) shall be one flesh (notice, ONE is again, singular...not leaving any room at all for anyone else.)
I dunno who "the levit" are, but if they were practicing polygamy, they were doing it WITHOUT God's permission, and it is a pretty good bet that they weren't very happy...

Where would all these women come from ? Over-all there are equal numbers of male and female children born . If each man had over three hundred wives, then for every one with the wives , over three hundred would have none. There are just so many - - - sorry.
Another thing to think about - - - one nagging, complaining, demanding, criticizing, wife is often more than enough. Try three hundred. Not for me, thank you very much.

Well - if you go out on the street, you would possebly find Christian women whom would abide to that.
Some people would do anything - anything to be on the good side of their God. I recently proved, using Yahoo answers, that some Christians blindly would eat their own poo, if they where commanded to do so. This indicates that much of Christianity rests on a blind belief, which turns people into slaves. "If God says - then I do so..."

THAT is how people can become suicide bombers, if anyone should wonder about it. So you see - it is not only Muslims that have this feature - it is ALL religions.

God did not authorize them to have so many wives - He just let them have what they wanted and the consequences followed. God's design has always been that a man would leave his folks and cleave to his wife (singular).

After all, Solomon, having 300 wives and 700 concubines, he was now saddled with 1000 mothers-in-law!
