I have a sister living in Battle Creek, Michigan and her monthly income come from SSI and FIA totalling $1000.00. Is there any other programs out there that can help her? She has 4 children under the age of 18. I won't go into the jist of her ordeal, but let's chalk it up to a guy who did bad... Thank you.

Getting a job might just help. In some states you can work to supplement your welfare benefits.

WIC would only work if her children are very young - under age 5. But does she get food stamps? Are any of the children old enough to get jobs and bring some income into the family? And most utility companies have programs to help very low income people with utility bills.

chances are she wont get any help from the state, it looks like she makes to much. She could try wic(for women and children) then she would get help with food. I am thinking that would be her best bet. Second best would be to get out of the state. I left last oct. and found out there are good jobs, just not in michigan.
