The Queen, the late and great Miss Janis Joplin, she put Threadgill's on the map. Then there is Momma Thornton, if you can listen to her singing "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog."
Many of the female singers mentioned, not "Memphis" Minnie because she was one of the if not the first female blues singer, blurr the line between Jazz, Blues, and Scat.
The most chilling song, it raises the hair on the nape of my neck every time I hear it is "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday and of course there is "Summertime" by Nina Simon.

Everyone will consider her as rock, but Janis Joplin was the greatest woman blues singer of all time, no ifs ands or butts about it. If you don't feel her soul coming through her singing voice, somethings wrong with you.
