Maybe books. Series like Geronimo Stilton or Madison Finn, or a Bratz doll. My 10-year-old cousin is turning 10 next month, and I have decided to get her an tamagotchi. These days, the hottest toy for both girls and boys between the ages of 8-11 are tamagotchis, for some reason. Or just give her a gift certificate for her favorite store. Or maybe take her to Claire's or Ardene's to pick out what she wants. Hope this helps.

I go with books whenever possible. Some possible ones that are good for that age, depending on her interests and reading level, are:
"Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism" by Georgia Byng (there are 3)
"Are You There God, it's Me Margaret?" by Judy Blume
"Tuck Everlasting"
"The Beacon Street Girls" series
"Madison Finn" series
"Amelia's Notebook" by Marisa Moss -- there are several

No heelys please... people don't realize how many injuries there are a year from these. But a great idea is a gift card or money at this age girls love to shop!!! And it's even better when they have their own means to shop with.

10 is a great age for girls becaus ethey want to learn how to do things and they have the coordination. Mine really wants a childs size sewing machine or her own camera. She also wants to learn how to knit. Or a child friendly cookbook. This is a great age for them to learn things that they don't realize will be important later in life because they will be fun to do now!

Giftcards. When my daughter turned 10 nothing I bought her was the right thing. Giftcards are good because she can pick whatever she likes. Also my daughter loves the Ripley's books.

It depends what they are into. All kids are different. When my daughter turned 10, she started getting into music more.
