I am confused, I know he was arrogant and egotistical(according to Bible). But I don't see him being cool with the idea of eternal torment anywere?

Didn't God casting him down into eternal torment essentially teach him the how to be evil(learning from example)?

Read The Book of Enoch (Fallen Angels and The Origins of Evil), Lucifer was cast down to hell because he and other angels slept with the daughters of man. Corrupting them and humans as a whole, he was not evil, only curious of why God would allow these frail creatures such pleasure and pain in their lives and wanted to experience this. God was appalled that one of his brightest angels would need the love of humans when he had the love of God. So he was cast out of Heaven and was given the job to prepare souls for the journey to heaven and those not worthy would be caught in limbo until they were able to accept God. There is a lot more said in the book, but I am tired of writing :) By the way I am an atheist.

The origin of the Satan theory began when the Christian God was feeling chatty (about 2000-3000 years ago, we haven't heard anything since.)

Arrogant and egotistical - sounds like some of our more 'vocal' Christians. But the similarities end where it comes to being cool with eternal torment. The above mentioned 'vocal' Christians (also known as Biblians) seem to have no problems with the idea of us non-believers having that experience.

They even sometimes wish it upon other Christians, who follow Christ's example of love.

My theory is that Satan was one of these Biblians, who got too big for his boots, and was sent to eternal torment. His human desire for vengeance against God went unrealised, so he decided to take his anger out on the rest of us, and Hell went into business.

So I do agree with these Biblians on the inclination that Satan is everywhere. His way is followed by anyone who judges another. People who name-call. People who use the phrase 'You are going to hell'.
Therefore his spirit is in the majority of people

*Disclaimer: this is not a representation of my beliefs, I am merely making a moral point, and using Christian material to make it.*

The Devil's motive for being evil is to take the blame for all the glitches and sloppy design faults in an intelligent and perfect universe. Of course we mortals can be blamed too - with some good reason.

Figure it out, sweetie! There is no such thing as God or the Devil! The devil is just the whipping boy for the fictitious christian's god. (ie. everything God does is good and everything the Devil does is evil). Kind of like any badly written story where the good guy "just can't be beat" and the bad guys can't get a break.

Without the Devil it would be impossible for the authors of the christian faith to get anyone to swallow such mindless drivel.

According to the bible there are many different reasons there are two main ones.

Number 1.
Satan was an Especially hansome angel (all angels are men) and because of this the other angels envied him and threw him out of heaven to earth but god wouldn't let him back in because spite had twisted him so he became the devil.

Number 2. He was Angel Lucifer and he turned spiteful for the same reason but falling out of heaven

No, of course not. He is cast out of the presence of God, which to any being who has been in it, is torment enough indeed.
His motivation is his selfishness, greed and desire to absorb and destroy all positive things. He didn't want to be equal with his Creator, but to replace Him.

Remember in Revelations where we are told that he was cast down here to the earth [in 1914]: "Woe to you who reside in the earth for he has been cast down to the earth having much anger knowing he has but a short time left"? Well, he is the main reason why things are so bad in the earth today; him and his demons. They were cast down here when God had Jesus cleanse the heavens, so they are very angry now to be blocked from heaven and blocked from going anywhere else.

Satan was made a beautiful ark angel to help sustain and rule over the earth, but he, after God created humans, began to get jealous over God's creation. He became selfish also and wanted humans to worship him, not God. This is why when we do not get rid of bad temptations or desires, they become firtile and with sin comes death. This is why he deceived Eve who then deceived Adam, and why we experience illness and ultimate death today.

Here are a few scriptures for you to ponder:

James 1: 12 - 15
Happy is the man that keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. """But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death"""".

2 Peter 3: 8 - 10
"However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance. Yet Jehovah’s day will come as a thief..."

Satan is down here on earth with us now and so are his demons. Many people, unbeknownst to them are demon possessed. That's why you get a lot of blasphemous answers to valid questions, or the nasty people who post blasphemous questions. Satan and his demons have control of them and they don't even realize it. Soon though all of these ones and Satan and his demons will be destroyed.

I so cannot wait for this time. Just think, no more immorality, no more death, no more illness, no more mockery, no more misleading information and/or false doctrines. That will be a nice time.

The devil has no motivation. If I've understood well, everything goes according to god's plan, so the devil must have been meant to be evil, and you are meant to be confused.
Personally I think it's the illogical and irrational way of thinking of people that created god and the devil in the first place, so in fact there's nothing to be confused about.

Sadly, its a mental illness (seriously). Its the thought in his mind, that if he doesn't do as much damage as possible, as fast as possible, and drag as many people down with him as possible, he won't succeed in killing and destroying and making life sickeningly, miserable for the mud/dirt beings who live a short time and WERE STILL GIVEN A PRECIOUS GIVE THE CREATURES MADE FROM THE PURE HEAVEN FIRE (ENERGY) WERE NEVER GIVEN.

What was man given that the Angels weren't? Simple.

A way out. A 2nd chance. And the r-e-a-l kicker? We didn't even ask for it. God just gave it to us. The first prophecy about the "son of man" damaging satan in the head and Satan damaging him in the heel (killing him for a short time before his resurrection) is in Genesis Chapter 3. WOW.

Its almost like God KNEW we might fail? Since in Genesis Ch. 3 he had already set up a prophecy for the Son of man (and trust me, Satan was po'd) and knew what that meant for the future since he could stand above the throne to cover Gods head all the time for his job. However, the angels weren't given souls "in the blood." THEY ARE SOULS. They were made perfect before the creation of the physical universe and watched its creation from heaven and wondered at its glory. They saw all of gods physical creation through his son. And instead of picking Satan and them, he picked the LAST THING MADE AT THE LAST MINUTE FROM THE NASTIEST THING ON THE PLANET. What must he be thinking!

Satan's punishment will not be to burn in hell forever. In Revelation 21, its say that both Hell AND the Lake of Fire (meaning the 2nd death, the lake of fire - Acts 5, Rev. 18) will be cast into the lake of fire to be DESTROYED FOREVER. Meaning that from that day forward, everything we live through NOW, everything we live through until THEN WE WILL NEVER WANT TO RECALL IT, THINK ABOUT IT, OR REALLY DWELL ON IT. For every brother, sister, mother and father we lose, god promises 100 more to take their place. FOREVER.

I have a hard time believing that Satan is responsible for the creation of evil, as, if that were the case, what was it that prompted him to oppose God and fall to begin with? I think we blame far too much on Satan, and that the fallen angel cannot be responsible for half of the things we accredit to him. Rather, I think that there is a force responsible for evil that can influence creation, is older and more powerful than God himself, can destroy but cannot be destroyed, and is beyond thought as we know it (much as God himself should be).
