I read somewhere that 12 years old was when you should worry about children having imaginary friends.... is that true? Would you worry if your teenager did??

I think as long as the child KNOWS that the imaginary friend is imaginary, it isn't a problem. Some kids just need to be able to tell someone things that they don't feel comfortable telling anyone else. If that continues into teenage years though, I think I would take the child to a therapist...it could be depression.

I would think six or seven is the max. My son's last posse of friends was when he was four and five -- I don't miss having to open the back door of the car for "all" his friends to get in the car, and put their seatbelts on!
