Always quick and delish, and so easy to keep all the ingredients always in stock!

2 cups rice
sufficient chicken, beef, or vegetable broth to cook the rice (or water with bouillion)

coriander, basil, turmeric to taste

two spicy sausages (hot italian are best), cooked and chopped

a pound of chicken thighs, beef round, or pork, preferably pre-marinaded (I use pineapple juice and soy or worcestershire sauce for marinade)
1 large onion (or two small), coarse chopped
chopped bell peppers if they're handy
chopped fresh mushrooms if handy
If there's a can of crushed pineapple around, put some or all of that in too
All ingrediments into the rice cooker, and dinner's on in 30 minutes or so and it is soooo good!

Each time you make this vary the ingredients and proportions to your whim.

Does anybody else have a simple 1-pot dinner recipe that lends itself to wide variation, and always comes out to your liking?

tin or two of diced tomatoes some cream to kill the acid of the tomatoes couple or one tin of tuna cook together put on rice or pasta put some grated cheese on top eat after cooking is nice is easy is good for you ~~

Try oats instead of rice. It's a bit more flavorful, too. See my question on treating oats like any other grain that's posted the second entry down from yours. I was about to buy a rice cooker, but I understand a steamer can do the same thing plus so much more. It's pretty quick and easy cooking one-minute oats on the stove top. Thankfully, I haven't yet stumbled onto how my mother managed to create lumps in almost every bowl when I was growing up.

The applesauce makes it decrease fat! 3/4 c. flour a million/2 c. plus 2 tsp. unsweetened cocoa 3 tbsp. unsweetened applesauce a million/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. granulated sugar a million/2 tsp. on the spot coffee granules a million/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 3/4 tsp. baking powder 2 eggs 2 tbsp. margarine or butter, melted a million tsp. vanilla extract a million. Preheat oven to 325°F. combine flour, cocoa, salt, on the spot coffee and baking powder. combination nicely. upload ultimate aspects and combine nicely, a pair of million to 2 minutes. unfold batter calmly in a sprayed 8" sq. Pyrex baking pan. Bake at 325°F for variety of 25 minutes. the superb must be set while touched at the same time with your fingertips, and in case you insert a toothpick interior the middle, it is going to come out somewhat moist. do no longer overbake or muffins would be dry.
