(Also, is it better to do sit-ups, or crunches instead?)

break them up in to 3 sets of 25 reps or so. I would start to increase the residence though, considering your at a more advanced ab workout level i would try increasing the angle of the board or hold some weight. Sit ups are really good if done correctly crunches isolate the upper abs, and sit ups hit mostly upper, also some lower abs, and lower back. Bottom line is 80 crunches or sit-ups takes a long time so make it more difficult and do less and you will see better results. Hope this helps.

As a serious bodybuilder 30 yr. ago I would hace said all at once. I did sets of 50, rest 1 min. 50 more with weight and repeat up to 200. I was told I had great abs. But this will actually make you thicker. For trimming the waist I would do one set, as many as you can. Crunches develop definition.

Just like all the above Answerettes mentioned, it doesnt seem too logical to do the 80 situps over different times of the day. Do you think you would actually be working your ab muscles if say you do 20 situps at 9am, and then another 20 at 1pm so on and so forth? compare this to doing 80 gruelling situps at one time- of course in sets and rest in between sets. you will feel the stretch in your ab muscles.
isnt that what you are going for?

No differents at all, it depends whether u have the energy to complete 80 sit-ups or just manage 40

Do them in sets, say ten a time, followed by a brief rest, then another ten for example - simply doing a lot of them can actually be bad for you- you just strain your muscles and end up less healthy than when you started

well, i guess if you're a beginner, then start off with 15's or 20's..
then if you get used to it, try increasing them by 5's..
coz if you force yourself to do 80 at once, that'd hurt real bad.
doing it all at once is much better though.=D
