I have a Diamondback Outlook and was interested to know whether I could add pegs to the rear and if so how?
They won't be used for tricks or the likes, just to allow me to transport someone :)

Could you link me to some which aren't the screw type? Thanks.

You could install pegs....but the extra force of someone standing on the pegs will likely bend the axle or worse trash the rear hub. I managed a bike shop for 10 years and saw so many trashed rear wheels from pegs...As I recall the Outlook has a bolt on rear wheel...the axle will not take the excess strain! If the bike has a quick release rear wheel....putting pegs on would be impossible! In short the answer is yes you could put pegs on (as long as the wheel bolts on). But if you do this...you will be headed for the bike shop for a new wheel! Also I forgot to mention...the 20 inch wheel that pegs are meant for has much shorter spokes as well...the extra weight on the rear wheel will likely break spokes much more easily too!

I saw a mountain bike with rear pegs just two days ago. I never saw it done before that.

if you do add pegs you will void the manufactures warranty. a bike should never be used to carry more people than it was designed for, for safety purposes. Let them get their own bikes.

Not if it has quick release front and back. And this can get you a ticket in CA. Unless you're 8 years old.

I have seen it done before. I imagine you would have a slight problem with the rear derailleur, though.

I really doubt it. A mountain bike will have the rear deraileur that will probably stop you from doing this.
