If the Pope, a few hundred years ago, when putting the bible together thought "well, even though we're using this to show people what the world was like before Jesus gave up his life, should we leave it out" and they agreed to leave the torah and the other Jewish books out would people still have such a hard time with Christinaity?
I mean, they think that just because we have the Jewish books in our bible that they think we follow them. I just don't understand it...do you?(also there ARE some churches that follow the old and new testaments, but most just follow the new testament laws)

Sleek...I agree, but do you realize you mentioned 1 thing 3 times?
The Apocrypha and the Torah are the old testament...

gorgeoustxVT...I have never fully read a gnostic gospel, so I don't know what they're all about...
But I still think they should be included in the bible because they are gospels of Jesus' life.

The Catholic Church did not leave out the Torah, they gave the people their own version of the bible, it was transgression of the church dogma to even posses a personal copy of the bible. To this day the Catholic Church forbids it's member to read the Gospel (the 4 Gospels and Revelation) They give their members the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it is their own version of the bible.
Read Matthew 6:7 and Matthew 23:5-10

The New Testament is literally nothing without the Old Testament. Jesus bases his whole entire world around the fact that he is the messiah that was professed in the Old Testament. Let us not forget that Jesus was a Jew also.

Bible or no bible it doesn't matter; I would not believe in the deity because there is no proof and the bible does not constitute that as there is no proof of the events of the bible happening. It is oral tradition handed down, corrupted and finally put to scrolls many years after it happened... in that essence it's like any other tall tale.
There are also some christian churches that prefer to follow the OT over the NT as I attended one as a child.

well the Old testament is just a joke really... but the new testament doesn't make much sense either and at the end of the day- if you're certain god does not exist, it doesn't really matter how well the book's written- you're never going to believe it!

Ultimately it comes down to PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP. Read the bible, the torah, the Qu'ran, the old testament, the new testament, the apocropha, but LIVE prayerfully. Peace.

There is nothing about earthly life beyond this.
Love and do as you want.
If you have unconditional love you can't fail to do the right thing, it will not be in you to do anything else. If you can do this then you are a new creature in Christ. This works if you know about Jesus or not. Few even with it pounded out over and over ever come to understand that God is love.
If you understood what I just said...really understood then welcome to the kingdom. If you didn't understand there is nothing on earth I can do to make you understand. The Father calls who he wants and he does so when he wants. Who am I to judge. God bless you all.

How about the Gnostic Gospels. Enlightenment makes more sense than salvation to me.

Brian, I don't think you can discard your Old Testament as easy as that.
