People believe if a car sinks it'll keep trapped air. Maybee on a new car but I know my cars a 1988 model & i doubt my car is sealed tight enough to prevent all the air from escaping.

while there may be a few breaths left for you and any passengers the object of focus must be to get out and be quick about it.
opening doors or windows under even a few feet of water is impossible so a life hammer should be kept near the drivers seat [mine is attached to the floor between the seat and door]. and all family members have one in each of their cars. these tools have a recessed razor to remove cut seatbelts and will remove a side window in less than a second, most have a glow in the dark spot on them so they can be found at night. [may we never need them]

only for the few moment, you have to get as much air as you can as the water slowly fills.manual windows?you should be fine.power windows?wait or break glass for water to fill then open door or through the window to get out.you can use air in the tires to breathe before surfacing.slowly surface do not rush as you will get bends.no cars can hold air that long.

any car will only keep air trapped for a short time due to the ventilation.

It will slowly fill with water. Most would get out the window right away and not worry about it.
