Ariel has not replied to this post yet and do not know if she will. No one is beating up on christians. I do not want judgemental answers saying they are from the devil, evil etc. If you do not think Christians say these things, you have not read any threads here. yes this is an open site and we pagans are here to stay and trying to post questions for pagans . We are peace loving and tolerant. We do not tell people they are bound for hell or that they need our God.

You have not followed very many of my answers or you would know that I do defend Christians from time to time.

If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

Here’s the how-to of reading tarot cards with your psychic perception in six simple steps. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/reading-tarot-cards.html

You can use this four minute video as a brief meditation on the tarot that, repeatedly viewed, will help you learn how to read tarot cards psychically. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/tarotvision.html

To tap in to it more you can go to my free psychic development pages here: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-psychic-ability.html

But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer.

Here is a free download demo for a great Tarot program. To keep the size of the demo manageable it contains the Rider/Waite deck, the actual program will have 10 complete decks. This Demo version of Tarot is a full working copy for 30 days. So you get 30 days to study meanings and spreads! http://www.free-tarot-download-demo.wotsnext.com

There are a couple of good documentaries about the Tarot on http://www.MyPathTV.SimplySeen.com

PS: Spirituality is born from a personal occurrence with a divine, psychic or mystical experience of one form or another which inevitably connects a person to All that Is/God/Goddess/Allah/Great Spirit /whatever you want to call it.

Religion is second hand opinion of someone else’s divine experience. I think you will find that religions, and especially fanatical religions, tend to separate and divide people, while spirituality brings people together.

Thank God that Spirituality (and the Tarot) is on the increase!

I think it depends on your beliefs. Some use it to contact their spirits or consort with their gods, and others use it to meditate as falling into that familiar rhythm helps achieve peace. Mine's the latter, I don't think they have anything ot do with magick, but help me clarify upon things.

Mostly, I've seen it used just for divination, much like the Futhark Runes (which I favor). They end up with your personal meanings, and you can use them any way you see fit. I have two decks, one the Celtic Tarot and one is the Dream Deck.

I use them for my own meanings and uses-- what they show on the card doesn't necessarily show the whole meaning. for instance, the Fish (Celtic Tarot) can mean money, not just fish, water, or flow. Mostly they're there to bring new meaning to a situation, they make me see all sides of the situation and consider what I normally wouldn't even notice. Not so much magick, but for meditation on an idea.

As for people that say it's evil-- keep in mind their gods hadn't been thought up till thousands of years after the Tarot cards and Pagan beliefs had begun.

I use tarot for all three. It depends on so much, events currently in my life, if I am reading for myself or others etc. I have even done a reading for my community as a whole. That was interesting. As for myself......tarot has helped me weather lots of crap in my life. It reminds me that I am connected to all and that the pendulum always swings the other way no matter how good or bad the situation seems. I have more than one deck. I don't have to but I find the sacred circle deck calls to me when I am meditating or feeling the nearness of the Goddess. But the Waite deck is my daily deck. I also like feona have certain cards the jump out at me or have special meanings just to me. Thanks for the question. Blessed be.

I know I'm a Christian, but...

I tried my hand at Tarot (for the purpose of divination) when I was younger and interested in exploring Paganism. Both my sister and I purchased decks, and I was humbled to see how gifted she was. She had a very intuitive "feel" for people, and could attain quite a degree of accuracy, even though she had never read anything "formal" of a "how-to" nature. I remember greatly respecting her ability. Maybe it's just a woman's intuition thing.

Psychic too huh! I'm atheist.

I don't use the Tarot now but I used to when I was younger in my teens, it is probably useful as a sort of meditation tool if you have a problem or difficult situation, it gives you a chance to think about your situation and look around it for possible solutions...I don't think there is any tarot magic... it's more just a focus for the thoughts and I used to find it useful sometimes.

I still have the Waite Tarot deck (recommended) in my games box but haven't touched them the last ten years.

A fascinating book by Mouni Sadhu "The Tarot" will take your study of the Tarot into the most arcane areas of Hermetic Occultism explored through the Tarot and is extremely in-depth and full in it's explanation of the cards and all sorts of related material. Of course there are many who say Mouni Sadhu is a total fraud...you would need to make your own mind up about that, the book is remarkable in it's scope.

For me, tarot is more about guidance. I believe that it helps one to examine, or take a closer look into their everyday lives, as well as look at their questions or seek answers from a different perspective.

I have used tarot in the past, but not recently, and I have also enjoyed dream interpretation. Some may believe it to be of the devil, others may think it to be magical or spiritual, and yet others still, just enjoy it for entertainment and fun.

I don't believe that it foretells the future or has anything to do with magic or any sort of evil. I think that some people may be intimidated by it, because they don't understand it, or like what they see/hear. Either way, you must not always take tarot to be so literal. It is NOT the way it is portrayed in films or many books.

And don't be quick to judge a Christian (or anyone for that matter) - Your question is open for ALL to answer. If you do not want an answer, then don't ask it.

I have been using Tarot for many years....they are used for guidance They show you your present, past and future so you can see where you have been and what you will do. It clarifies the mind...you are naturally going to interpret the cards to fit your own life. I will admit there have been a few times when, in particular, the cards have reflected unexpected things, good and bad, and, as there is no real magic in them, I subconsciously made the good and bad come true.
I truly enjoy the clarification and guidance I receive from them. I also read them them for close friends
As for being unchristian..well who's to say that the guidance isn't from the good lord himself? The fact that they are deemed evil comes from close minded people who are afraid of the unfamiliar.

I don't use but your free to find your own route as to them being evil don't think so ..and from who ...the devil who is he/she .... only kidding ..not one of my tools but ..who knows ... but Ariel wishing you and others would stop beating up on the Christians as this is an open site no one is excluded and all have their opinion ..good or bad .....makes us you them seem if we have to defend our beliefs by blaming someone else this is no longer the case as you can see ...by the amount of interest shown ..and as the first rule in magic is ..." and it harms none so be it".......stop going there Christians are people to ..bet I get big thumbs down .".so be it "...

I like to do a daily reading ( one card or 2) in the a.m. with my cuppa. The cards help me focus on my strengths and weakness's for the day, and open my mind to the mystical life i enjoy. p.s the cards that jump out of the deck have the most meaning I affectionetly refer to as jumpers.
