This is another question that's been dogging me for quite a long time. Because I'm an Atheist, I've generally been either pitied or looked down upon by those around me of different religion (mainly Catholics and Christians).
I've seen many people that are very devoted to their worship, some of which even reside on Yahoo Answers.
Due to the fact that they follow their doctrine so strictly and denounce any doctrine of a different nature ("Thou shalt not have any God before me", if I'm correct?), I'm increasingly under the impression that you who call yourselves pure and good look down upon me (and others who believe the same as I) simply because of what I believe.
Now I know this could be declared as a radical notion, and that I'm jumping to conclusions (and rightfully so), but it only makes logical sense from my point of view.
So, what do you think...am I inherently inferior to you and your clergyman simply because of what I believe?

Because what I find funny, after looking at all this, is that I'm an Atheist yet I don't look down on religious people simply because of what they think. Who knows? Maybe the religion of no religion isn't as evil as you think it is...;-)

I am a christian and i would like to apologize for Christians who've made you feel like less of a person for what you believe. God loves you just as much as he loves them and I. None of us have a right to devalue eachother.
Of course, Christians have a right to disagree with you and debate it with you just as you have a right to disagree with us. But we should be debating and discussing these things in love, not with judgement or hate.
The bible says that with what measure you judge you will be judged. So those Christians that have judged you unfairly are risking a harsh judgement from God.

I am not an Atheist, and I follow no religion, but I do live by the words of the bible as Salvation does not happen in groups. It is an individual reward that comes from God by acquiring accurate knowledge of Truth from his word, the Bible, by applying this Truth to my daily life, and by helping spread the good news of His Kingdom. I do not frown upon anyone or any other religion, I have my opinions on them, but I do not think that any human being is inferior to me, I love all my fellow human race, even those that do not believe in God, for it isn't my place to judge others. You have free will it is your choice what you believe. As a matter of fact, because of my beliefs, instead of judging you, I will pray for you. For you can very well become my kin in faith someday, you never know. Even if you didn't, I would pray that you aren't scrutinized for just being you. So no, you aren't any less of a person than I am, nor are you inferior to me.

I hate to bring up the Gnomes that live in my back shed again but...... they keep coming out at night and eating all the chillis of my chilli bush. I've never seen them do it, I just believe. Anybody who doesn't believe my as well believe in the Bible. Both are about as believable as each other
The thing is I'm right so if you don't believe as I do, then I don't want to be your friend anymore

Dude, Stand up for yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being atheist and having different views to anyone else. This world is not viewed in black and white.
Don't feel inferior, because you definetely aren't =)

I'm a Christian. No one is better. Actually I think that's part of the point.
I must say I often get told off for my views so I feel where you're coming from.

Nope, we're equal. Anyone that says different should be smacked.
My fiance is Atheist, I'm Agnostic. We treat each other as betters, not lessers.

No you are no less a person than anyone else. As a Christian I am required by my Lord to love all as my brothers and sisters, not just those who agree with me.

because christians are hypocrites.
they forget mary magdalene and how jesus treated her and the money changers.
now, its all about money and their own salvation.
thats why they accept jesus as lord.
to save themselves, not others.
