Because parents are failing to give them or teach them about God and Jesus, to give them any hope of any future..they are not being taught, that it is alright not to be rich to be worldly, and to be self centered..and they are not being given any hope..they are being abused in many situations,...by parents that have no morals or scruples, because they too, to not have God and Jesus in their lives...

I think that there are no more depressed or suicidal kids than there ever were, but what I think has changed is that the internet has created sort of watering holes for these sorts of people. If you spend a lot of time in the 'mental health' section of yahoo answers, you might lose touch and think that there are more depressed teens than not, but venture out to other areas of answers and you'll see most of the young teens on this site are merely annoying not asking for help.
As a teenager I did go through some very serious depression, so I tend not to assume that these younger kids are just angsty, although I can pinpoint the angsty ones that just want attention quickly, because those types will ask if they're bipolar because they have mood swings throughout the day or something else obviously ridiculous.

Mreh- I went through a small phase like that, and look at me now. I'm Schizophrenic. Haha.
Anyways- I now have grown to see that it's stupid for thinking that way. I grew up my whole life being beaten at home AND at school- I did consider ending my life, but the moment I turned 16, I found someone to make it all better for me. =)
So my point is, with time, good things happen. ...well, in my case, not having the guts to kill myself really paid off. XD
I will not have anything against teens who are considering suicide, but my advice is for them not to do it... It's such a waste. And if anyone out here is thinking of it. Speak with mehhhh! I'm a good friend to talk to! XD
*Is very hyper.*

There aren't more depressed/suicidal kids...they just know how to communicate their feelings better via Internet. Which in itself might be a good thing as they are getting hurtful things off their chest and by not internalizing everything, they might be saving themselves from harm. I was a teen in the 80's and everything i see these kids rant about, i felt and had no one to talk to about it. Yeah, it's easy to make fun of the EMO kids but truly as adults, we need to realize as media gets more savvy, so do our children. We must be careful not to blow off their feelings, as we all had those feelings to at some point...we just didn't have a "voice".
