I think it is annoying when doctor's continue to say, "We have no ideas how people gain Schizophrenia and Split-Personality disorders. yes, the two are different, but we've yet to discover how they come about."

First off.. I am one who suffers from Schizophrenia. Which is caused by a dramatic (negative and continuous) occurrences in your life. Your life is so miserable that eventually your mind "splits" and becomes two people, three, four, even up to 10 different "other people".

As for split-personality, I'm not sure how that one is cause, but I'm guessing you may be born with it OR even, like Schizophrenia, gain it from a bad experience in life as a child.

I'm sorry, I just needed to let that all out.

Scythex: Don't mind her, she's all...weird and stuff.
Lykaios: Yeap. X_X

Well, Melissa... I am one of Krissy's Schizo's, Scythex, and I have to tell you that I was created from all of the disappointments in my host's life.

And I know about the name change for Split Personality, but I still consider it split-personality. XD It's easier for me to remember. X_x;

Anyways- I thought that by hearing it from an actually person with the actual condition would help to understand it. *Sighs.* Oh well.

I have failed once again. =o!

..and I never trusted Psychiatrists.. They ask you retarded questions like, "How does this Teddy Bear feel?" Gosh! >.
I wish they saw it from the eyes of the true sufferer. ~.~

when a person is abused so badly, and it is continuous, over and over again...they can easily develop another stronger, calloused personality to deal with it..they can become evil, vindictive, retalitory, and no concious whatsoever...it is almost like, satan enters into the void where there was never any kind of Christian teachings there.. I do believe that schziophrenia, is a demon and I can back that up because in the Bibical days, those were the demons that Christ cast out when the person afflicted, asked for His help ...it was their faith, that saved them

Actually, schizophrenia is not really caused by any sort of dramatic occurence in your life. Yes, while the EXACT cause of schizophrenia is unknown, it is generally agreed that it is a result of an interaction between your biological blueprint and your environment. Sometimes dramatic occurences TRIGGER schizophrenia but it is not a CAUSE. Schizophrenia appears to part genetic. How much is owed to genetics is still unknown. The split personality disorder you are talking about is now considered Dissociative Identity Disorder. The primary cause of this disorder is prolonged trauma experienced during childhood. Like schizophrenia, there also seems to be a genetic connection because people with DID usually have close relatives that also have the disorder.

See schizophrenia, and dissociative identity disorder, formerly called multiple personality disorder, but more commonly known as "split personality", at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on pages 7, and 17. It takes a psychotherapist with expertise in treating dissociative identity disorder, to have a good chance of a successful outcome, so use the locators, and view the 1800-therapist website, on page 1.

I got schizophrenia when I became homeless and living on the streets. I became too physically sick to hold down a job and lost it. Then I lost my apartment and car and so I applied for Social Security Disability. That took 3 years to get approved and the trauma of living on the streets was more than I could handle. I hallucinated and heard voices. Then I went to an outpatient homeless clinic and got on Abilify 10 mg. Now my schizophrenia is in remission for 4 years.
