what planet are you on? Open your eyes and mind, do we not still have lepers and blind (withered trees?? s'truth, that's desperate!!) And of course there is no evil in the world at all now.
Consider for a moment, that the bible is actually a collection of folk tales, written by numerous people, in 400-800 AD, much like Grimm's fables.
6 to 12 generations of stories being handed down, and you believe that it is all fact?

except, it wasn't just "simple sayings and parables." The same bible which describes these, also described incredible miracles such as raising the dead, healing lepers, withering trees, causing the blind to see, casting out demons, and finally, defeating Satan.

I think it was his miracles as much as the wisdom of his words that blew people away and made them dedicated followers.
