If God's real, he wouldn't be physical, He'd be spiritual. How are you supposed to get physical evidence from something that's spiritual? What kind of evidence do you want exactly? A tissue sample of God's skin?

And yes, I expect to get viciously flamed.

As the whole planet doesn't actually believe in your god
it means he either

Why we want physical evidence? Oh, because otherwise we'd have to determine which one of the 10,000 One True Religions (if any) were really true without anything else to go on.

"How are you supposed to get physical evidence from something that's spiritual? What kind of evidence do you want exactly?"

Well, your putative God may be a spiritual entity, but if he's the Jehovah of Judeo-Christianity, he personally involves Himself with what goes on in the world. He interfaces with the physical universe every time he creates a burning bush, impregnates a virgin, has his son convert water into wine, etc., so there should be plenty of physical evidence.

So, what do I want in the way of physical evidence? Levitation would be nice--not the cross-legged bouncing of Transcendental Meditation, but real honest-to-goodness levitation. Or, you could have a faith-healer cure an amputee under observation by doctors.

If you can't give any evidence whatsoever other than quoting what some religious person wrote in the Bronze Age, how do I know you're not just making up your God's existence?

"Why do so many people want physical evidence of God's existence?"

Without evidence, existence is questionable at best.

" How are you supposed to get physical evidence from something that's spiritual?"

There's the rub. If god, a spiritual being, created everything natural (and physical) then he would be able to provide said evidence. The fact that this being hasn't proves one of two things: we are so far beneath his notice, that it's not worth the effort to prove itself; or that this being doesn't exist. I go with the second, until proven otherwise.

"What kind of evidence do you want exactly?"

I want a recreation of two things in the bible, verified by reliable sources. First, god must take the form of man again. Second, in that form (DNA tested to show that it only has the chromosomes from the female that birthed it), he must take a handful of dust, speak it into a cognizant human male, and then while he sleeps, create a woman from his rib, while causing no visible wound. These humans would then have to be tested for DNA (which they wouldn't have), a navel, plus a complete physical and medical workup. Once done, this information would then have to be subjected to the same rigorous testing that all scientific research goes through. When the community as a whole accepts it, I'll concede to its validity...not before.

Well consider there's evidence for EVERYTHING else ever observed in the universe, it's a little puzzling that there isn't any reliable evidence of God's existence. Even Neutrinos, quarks, and dark matter leave behind evidence.

If you can observe it and experience it in anyway, there should be evidence. People think that science is evil or biased. Science is the only purely unbiased method of discovering new information that we have. If there is no scientific evidence for God's existance....that says something...

I'm not going to "viciously flame" anyone, but think about what you're asking...religious people devote their entire lives to the concept of an all-powerful God. They can't see Him, they can't hear Him, they can't touch Him...they just have to "believe" He's there. And His allegedly inspired followers wrote a book of acceptable behavior for everyone to follow. Now put yourself in the place of a non-religious person. If someone came up to you with this story and expected you to devote your entire life to these ideas, wouldn't YOU want some type of proof? Having doubts isn't a lack of faith, it's a sign of wisdom.

God has done so many things for everyone yet they want a really big sign that God is real. For them, seeing is believing. To those people who think like this, let me ask you a question. Have you seen George Washington? as in the first president of the usa? No you haven't. Do you believe in him? yes you do. but you never saw him. does that mean there was never a george washington? You have a heart. yet about only 5 percent of people have seen their own hearts. now if you haven't seen your own heart, does that mean you don't have one? my point here is that seeing is believing is just a stupid saying. you can't wait until God comes and shakes your hand before you believe in him. it is in these times when your faith has to come into play. what is faith? it is being sure of what you hope for and certain of things you do not see. (hebrews 11:1) when you keep asking for a sure sign of God's existence, it goes to show you don't have faith. and without faith, your life is certainly meaningless.

You mean physical evidence like cripples being healed and the dead being resurrected and seas parting so that millions could pass between the walls of water?

No, God doesn't manifest himself in the physical sense at all!

The reason he doesn't is that he no longer has a reason to. We have his Word, so there is no longer the need for miracles to validate the messengers.

A tissue sample would be a good start.
Look, any actual evidence or proof of any kind would be OK.
You don't have any, obviously.

I was thinking the other night what if the supernatural nature of god could change to natural to suit the world in which we live isn't it a little like an analogue to digital device for computer input ? oh well just dreaming I really don't see any thing else positive for the deity case.

You are quite right. We need spiritual evidence!!! I haven't thought of that! Oh wait how the hell do we get this "spiritual evidence?"
