I think it's fine if you're just going to fly alone, and have someone that can meet you at the airport at your destination, and who you'll live with wherever you plan on going,
But I think it'd be a bit dangerous if you want to travel and live completely alone during that time. Besides, there are a lot of responsibilities if you plan on living alone for an extended time; housekeeping, chores, getting three meals a day, etc. If I were you, I would wait a few weeks/months until a friend or family member can go with you.

At 16 you're probably capable of going on a plane and stuff by yourself, but it wouldn't be a good idea for you to be wandering around cities by yourself. If you have some people who can meet you at your destination, give you a place to stay, and show you around, you can probably do it. I'd recommend that you talk with your parents. They know you better and your capabilities so they can make the best recommendations.
I have traveled alone, but I still think it's better to travel with someone I already know when reasonable. And I'm an adult.

Flying by yourself is no biggie, I'm 17 by the way and have been traveling around the country with friends and advisors since I was 15. But traveling by yourself probably isn't very much fun in comparison to having someone to acompany you and share the experience, nut that's just my opinion. Maybe you should wait until someone is able to travel with you and possibly agree on a destination instead of finding someone who wants to go where you want to go. The wait may pay off and you'll probably have a better trip then rushing to get out of town by yourself.

There is nothing sweeter than feeling like a grown up and ready to tackle life in all it's aspects , yet you must bear in mind that life is filled with dangers and bad people who lurks in darkness. I am not trying to scare you traveling alone can be fun but no matter how old are you, you still lack experience... I truly think that you better find company....

Travel where? Who will be there when you arrive to where you are going? If you have someone that is going to look after you when you get there like a family member then sure, but if it will just be you alone then Id say no, it wouldn't be safe.

I think if you are being allowed to travel by yourselves by the airline, you will probably board the plane like adults.
