The tanking of our economy would not stop it, and at best slow it down. If Mexico's economy tanks with us, it would actually accelerate it. If people look at our history in regards to recession. People gravatate to the big cities during economic down turns. A rumour of a couple hundreds, attract thousands. If you look at why Mexico city is so large and the growth of Cities in developing country, you would see people from the cuontry moving in hopes of getting a job. A factory would open and thousands would flock there , building shanty towns long after the factor filling their needs.

So you are willing to pay more for all of the goods and services you like? Because frankly these people are doing jobs people like you refuse to do for the wages offered. Many are paying Soc. Sec. taxes which they will never get back and if you think they are all getting welfare you have bought into someones line of crap. I lived, worked, and hung out with them and by far the majority are the hardest working people you could meet.
But to answer you question the economy need not tank simply find people who will work there a$$e$ off 6 or 7 days a week for minimal wage and not cry about how hard it is or why don't we have insurance etc

If we would do like Israel and build a dam fence and put our military on guard and shoot first and ask question latter, its working for them. They let the Palestine people in to work but they can't stay. So we should follow their lead and stop this non since then get focused on the Iraq war again, we have to win both wars and the Mexican problem is a national threat, to our security & economy.

1. Rigorously defend our borders.
2. Enforce our immigration laws.
3. Punish our noncompliant employers.
4. Cut off access to taxpayer paid social services.

They would be out of here in a skinny New York minute.

As long as there is economic inequality between any two countries, immigration will continue. That is a given. It is in our nature to try to have more in life and offer more to the generations to come. I will tell you, however, my dear American friend, your country would not be as wealth if it wasn't for those other poor countries you all take advantage of (either you recognize it, or not) around the globe and certainly not if it wasn't for those immigrants that literally build your country. So, if you don't want them any more, don't hire them and pay someone else a decent salary and insurance!

Doing what we can (within reason) to help Mexico, Cuba, and other source-countries raise *their* quality of life would go a long way toward lessening the influx of illegal immigrants. If they could earn a decent living in their home country, why would they go to the effort of sneaking into the USA?

If there are no jobs available to them, then they wont come here. Also, it would help to have the military sitting on the border with loaded guns pointed to the south.

Close the borders. Cut their welfare. Deport all illegal immigrants back to their native country. They can be welcomed back in once they immigrate here legally.

How about enforcing the laws about hiring illegals? If NO ONE can hire them, then there's no point in coming here.
