I can speak for Adana. It's hot and going to be hot for two more months (sadly).
For cheap stuff, you can try American Bazaar/Market (Amerikan Pazarı in Turkish) where American products are sold. There is a US Air Base here and soldiers use it too, sometimes you can find second hand products from soldiers.
For cheap shopping you can also visit Galleria. There are open markets during certain weekdays, and you can find very cheap stuff there.
Also, you can go to Çakmak Caddesi (Çakmak Street). There are many shops along the street and they're relatively cheap. There's also a big mall called Çakmak Plaza in the street.

I've been to all of those cities and can tell you that things in Turkey are WAAY cheaper than in the US, so I'm not really sure what you mean by affordable. There are places you can buy cheap things all over Turkey, but the covered bazaar in Istanbul is the best...more the atmosphere than anything else. I'm returning to Turkey next year for my honeymoon-my fiance has never been, and the covered bazaar is definitely on my list. Also, remember to bargain. It's a way of life in Turkey! It will still be warm most places, but like someone said previously, Cappadocia especially can be chilly at night. I would take a jacket just in case. Don't take alot of short or very revealing clothes, except for in extremely touristy areas...it can be very insulting. Have fun!

Hi,
Esra talked about Adana, and I am talking about Istanbul ...
For Leather, You must visit Kapali Carsi (Grand Bazaar),
The Grand Bazaar (Kapalicarsi in Turkish) is one of the the largest covered markets in the worldwith its 4400 shops, 3000 firms, some 17 hans (separate inns for specific type of products), 64 streets,25.000 employees, 4 fountains, 2 mosques and 22 gates. It's a real heaven for shoppers and a good opportunity for people to discover the Turkish hospitality. It looks like a labyrinth at first sight but it's actually not that complicated. All you have to do is to keep your eyes on the main street (Kalpakcilarbasi Street, the jewelry street). The Bazaar was first constructed in 1464 with the order of Mehmed II 'the Conqueror' and had many restorations over the years due to the extensive fires and destructive earthquakes. There are tens of cafés, a police station, little mosques, tourists information points in the bazaar.
Another item which is important to our culture is carpets. When you're walking on the streets in the Bazaar, some people might approach you and invite you to see their collections of carpets. They are commission-men and if you like them you can go to the shops they mention but you may also reject them. They seem insistent but if you don't care about them, they go away. Carpet shops are usually spread out to smaller parallel streets and the purchasing decision is usually very hard. When you walk into a carpet shop, you're first offered coffee, tea or coke without any obligation of buying usually with a warm smile. The carpets are from several different regions of Turkey and the salesman tells about them one by one starting from less quality ones to higher quality (higher price of course!) ones. Bartering with them is a real fun!

In addition to my friends' advices i can say,the weather will be hot in Istanbul till the end of next week (24-25th of august), about 35 degrees. After that it's cooling down a bit but it on't be less than 25-28 degrees i believe.
For leather products in Istanbul, Laleli area has lots of shops you can find what you are looking for. If you want cheap ones, you should look Mahmutpaşa area ( in Eminönü)
One tip, always bargain.
