We live in a brand new house with a new garden.I got this cat on my birthday, he is cute but I would be happy when he can do his business in the toilet just like we do.

The best I have heard is to put a litter box under the lid of the toilet. Try to find a container that you can use it should hold steady under there. Show you cat where his new litter is and leave it there for a few days.
I hope you have two washrooms in the house, or you have to keep lifting it out until the cat starts to jump up.
Good Luck

sure, you could practice cats hints. It only takes some endurance. I taught a number of my cats numerous hints. Others weren't very fascinated. i think of the super difference between coaching cats to do hints and coaching canines to do hints is which you won't be in a position to get a cat to do some thing that doesn't charm to the cat. A canines ought to do some thing just to delight the instructor, yet a cat won't do a trick till the cat shows it relaxing.

I think Faw has got it right... I have seen a product that was a litter tray that goes on the toilet. Cats naturally want to "go" on litter so they will go there. After a while you can take the litter away and they'll still go in the toilet. But I don't think you can teach them to flush... :)
