It all depends on why the break up occured. I think it would be a good thing if an ex REALLY wanted to remain a friend. I think I would be happy that she didnt want to destroy me completely. I've dealt with that before.

But if for whatever reason, It wasn't meant to be, I would hope in my heart that we could be friends. If one hasn't done something cruel to kill the love, then there is still love and if you love someone as a friend, then why not continue the friendship?

No problem remaining friendly, or even being casual friends. But real friends do things together, hang out together, enjoy each other's company, and - if they are a man and a woman - tend to grow closer. Would you want your BF hanging out with ex-gfs like that? I don't think most girls would like that very much.

Usually the breaking up creates enough ill will that staying friends is very awkward. But it does happen occasionally. Sometimes only after the next match has turned out well, though.
