8o years ago more often than not family's lived like little house on the prairie, life was simple and good.I am only 45 but I remember going to my grandmothers house, there was a peace there with the people and the atmosphere , with deep regret I figure my 2 teenage girls will never get to feel the kind of peace and harmony with everyone the presence of God being all around.Because I have yet to find anything in todays world that we can call the good old day's.Will any of our kids in today's world even know what we are talking about. Can anyone relate to me on this. What in the world happened? was it my generation that decided to let the devil steal ,kill, and destroy the God fearing world we used to have.was it us that decided family meals, nighttime prayer's,church outing's,playing in the woods, self respect, etc. etc was no longer important if it kept us from living in the world that we now live in.Was it all of us,was it all beyond our controll.Have we made God almost non existent?

times change. it is your responsibility as a parent to provide a loving, nurturing atmosphere for your children and to provide them with the same values that were instilled in you. you cannot control what goes on in the world but you can control how your children are raised.

what happened to all the god fearing christians? there are still plenty out there.

evil has always existed. perhaps we are more civil now than were were in the past. the romans made an event out of watching slaves fight to the death. what kind of respectful society is that? murder rates in tombstone, az (remember the story of wyatt earp?) were just as high as those in modern day new york.

I read your profile and I will pray for you. You don't seem to understand that God loves you. Jesus died for your sins and rose again. Have you ever asked the Lord into your life? I did many years ago and He has helped me and blessed me a lot. Try reading the Bible. Start in the New Testament. I recommend the Gospel of Mark first. Here are some Bible verses to look up: Romans 10:13, Romans 5:8, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16, Philippians 4:6,7; Proverbs 3:5,6. It is good that you are trying to control your anger. Pray and ask God to help you with all your problems and read a portion of the Bible every day. You'll find answers there. I will pray that you find a good church. Ask God if there is any way you can make restitution for what you did, besides apologizing to the girl. Is there any way you can change schools? Talk to your parents about it. If you have asked God to forgive you for that sin, He did. Everybody sins. We all need God's mercy. I'll pray also that God will protect you. You obviously feel bad about it and that is good. That is what repentance is. I love Psalm 51:17: A broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. God bless you, sweetie.

This is the agony faced by all the generations, not your's alone. With march of time, things change, some for good and some for not so good or even worst.Having accepted it ,we should try and adjust to the changes as the opposite is impossible. If you could live for another 100 years, you would find your children saying some thing similar to what you feel right now.The core values are still there but may not be that strong and the package(covering) has changed. This is the reality of life on this earth and History verifies it for all to see.some accept and others don't and both are affected in different ways.Choice is our's.

because kids don't care today. technology is becoming more convenient, advanced, and fun, so kids would rather stay inside all day and play that. there's no need for outside or morals when we have technology. that's the reason. at least that's how it'll be until we're all destroyed from technology.
(also there's tons of immigrants coming in now, more then what there was back then, and they have their own religions, so naturally christianity would be rivaled against those in size and popularity as the numbers for both sides started to balance each other.)
and god was just an excuse for morality, when really there are no morals. you weren't born with a set position on morals, it's what you were brainwashed into as you grew up (the church).

The "Good Old Days" never existed, selective memory has a lot to do with that.

90 years ago - World War One.
80 years ago - 2 years from the start of the Great Depression.
60 years ago - the beginning of the Cold War.

Oh, the good old days? Like when life expectancy was under 50 years? When there was slavery and minorities 'knew their place'? When we committed genocide against Native Americans? When Catholics and Protestants were murdering each other? When most people worked 15-hour days and their only recreation was whittling a corncob? When things like typhoid fever and cholera killed millions? When guys got their arms broken by cranking their Model Ts? When they didn't have root canals and many people were toothless by the time they were 30?

Let's face it, the only thing good about the Good Old Days (TM) is that the person reminiscing was a lot younger and healthier...

Bogart said it well. I am so sick of people claiming it was so much better back in such and such a time. The truth is, now is the best of times and we continue to move forward with knowledge and innovation. 80 years ago was ok for your grandparents maybe ... but black people at the time may have had a different take. Also 78 years ago the Depression started ... and that wasn't all peace and harmony.

The sooner we rid ourselves of religious faiths that discourage critical thinking and science, the better we will be.

You're right but I think you're looking at it from a purely Western perspective. In other countries, like China, African nations, India, Arab nations, Indonesia - the numbers of Christians are drastically increasing.

The Spirit of God has moved from the Western nations I believe. Now He is setting hearts on fire around the globe!

It's sad that our country is post-Christian, but that doesn't mean there isn't work for us to do here, to set a good example and pray for revival.

Start your own family and live like that. Take away the computer, the car, the tv and all the luxuries of life and live with very little and you will be grateful for what you do have.

Don't feel like it? Well don't say we didn't ask.

It's because we're learning more and more about the natural world and the idea of "God" is becoming more ridiculous by the day.
