A forthcoming ITV documentary is going to show Jesus as Muslims see him through the Koran ie there was no manger, he is not the Messiah, and the crucifixion never happened as Christians would know it. My question is really to anyone who is an ordinary Muslim - how do you see Jesus ?

Additional note: I'm neither a Muslim or a Christian, but it interests me the connection between different religions and I will definately watch this programme. I find it odd that 'Representatives from mainstream Anglican and Catholic organisations were invited to take part in the film, to be broadcast on Sunday, but nobody was available'

Well, Jesus(PBUH, Peace Be Upon Him) was one of the greatest prophets. As such, it is of good faith to follow every mentioning of Jesus(Prophet Isa to Muslims) with Peace be Upon Him. We believe that he isnt the son of God, and that it was showed by the fact that he ate, drank , and bled among other things. Also, according to Islam, he never actually called himself the son of God. We believe that he was born of the Virgin Mary and that God performed miracles through Jesus(PBUH), such as his speech as a child. We do not believe that Jesus(PBUH) died at all actually, but that he was brought into heaven by God and was never crucified. He will be sent back to Earth to destroy the Daggal(anti-Christ). Also, in Prophet Muhammed's(PBUH) assent to heaven at Jerusalem, the Prophet is said to have talked with Jesus(PBUH) repeatedly, and it was after being convinced by Jesus(PBUH) that Prophet Muhammed(PBUH) asked Allah to bring the required daily prayer down from i think it was 500 to 5.
In short, Jesus is a very big deal to Islam and Muslims. He is one of the most mentioned Prophets in the Qu'ran and holds an important place not only in Islam's past and present but a major role in its future.

Im an ordinary muslim and to me and plenty of other muslims, Jesus also known as 'Issa' to us ,was a prophet.God has no son or any other relations in anyway in Islam and so you are right. We do not belive he was the son of god and that the crusifixion happend to him.We believe someone else was made to suffer in his place (presumably Judas..who knows?)and that Jesus was risen up by God before he could suffer.Jesus is also known to come towards Judgement Day to fulfill the job he is also given. He will kill the 'Dajal' and end the false beliefs about him.He will live on this earth for some time once again and then will pass away just like all the other prophets.

We respect Jesus and love him as a prophet and do believe that he was born from the virgin mary (maryam). We also believe that Allah did give him the power to perform many mircales. He is one of the main prophets in Islam who was also given the holy book (Injeel) a.k.a the the Bible but we believe that time also chnaged the contents of the book, though the Quran does say that there still is SOME truth to it.He will always be known to us as a great prophet just like those before him e.g Adam,Moses(Musa),David(Dawood) (A.S ) etc.

Why do Christians do not persist with the training of Abraham, or Moses ?? simply by fact each time while Allah despatched a prophet to us the training of the previous one have been suspended. The question is why did Allah has to droop to teachings of the previous prophet? while the folk made amendments and molded the religions there way, and while the authentic coaching of the prophets have been forgotten Allah despatched yet another for human beings. that's why Muslim have self assurance in Jesus as a brilliant prophet yet persist with in basic terms the prophet which got here after Jesus and is meant to be the final of the chain of prophets on earth. i'm hoping that solutions.

I will be more interested to see the reaction of the Muslims if there was a show with this title "TV airing for Christian's story of Muhammad!!"
What will happen if the show was about Muhammad, and how the Christians see him, about his prophet hood, his trip to Jerusalem, the Angel, etc etc.
Would that bring out another riots as the cartoon did the other day!
Or would it be another 'satanic versus' rage in the making!

The UK wouldn't do it. They are to PC when it comes to Islam, and have freedom of expression when it comes to Christianity.
They were invited! Humm... the show will be saying that Jesus was not Crucified for one! wonder how the Christians will like that!

It is unfortunate that the Muslims don't read their own book and what it says about Jesus. For some, Jesus is the Spirit of God, the Word of God, El Messiah. The day of the crucified God lifted Jesus up to Him so Jesus will not suffer the pain. Did they ever wondered why God would do that to Jesus, and yet let Muhammad die a painful death, may he rest in peace. Think about it Muslims.

Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet and not the Son of God as Christians believe. They believe He did not die on the cross, that Allah made someone to look like Him on the cross. They do believe He is the Messiah. His name in Arabic is Isa Al-Masih which translated means Jesus the Messiah. They do not believe He is God, as Christians believe He is the Second Person of the Trinity. They do believe He will come back again and will break all the crosses and state His allegiance to Muhammad and He will marry and have children and then die.

they would not want to be in comflict on tv it only gives all a bad image. but muslims see Jesus as a prophet yet lesser than mohammed. Many muslims have told me they love Jesus more than christians because they know God would never let a prophet suffer. the bible says all prophets were rejected but muslim believe they were all sinless accept Jesus where Christianity teaches only Jesus was ever sinless.

I am a Christian, and I know that Muslims think of Jesus as nothing more than a prophet. They do not believe He is the son of God, nor do they refer to God as God. They believe partly what Moses did, and believe in Allah. This was a term used by the Levites who were teachers of Allah's word, and kept the temple holy.

Most Muslims view Ias Maseh as a prophet. Which seems odd when HE claimed to be GOD. If He is not what He claimed He is either a liar or a fool.
As for anyone declining to participate, thatb would depend on the terms of the invitation, surely?

As a faith community, Muslims accept Jesus as a noble, exemplary servant/prophet of Almighty God, not God or God's son.
