Muslims are not allowed to be alone with an opposite sex person in closed place. It is all right if they talk in public places as long as they do not hug, kiss and touch each other. Because doing these things lead to committing sins.

Well this one can be a bit tricky. I personally have a gf, but thats not really halal(islamic version of "kohser"). People normally meet each other and can get to no each other, but w/o much physical interaction. If a man is going to propose they are allowed to see their parnter as they are dressed while with their family( this was back when publicly women covered up and such, so yea..). Basically, you get to know each other and then get engaged. Its stressed mainly on personality because we believe that beauty fades but personality lasts. Also, most "dates" would be chaparoned by a member or two of the family or in larger groups and parties and such.Often times familes try to get people married to each other, but both men and women in Islam reserve the right to their own terms of marriage and both men and women can divorce their spouses simply because they cant stand each other. Now divorce isnt that simple, but thats a whole other thread.
Basically, Islamic dating is chaparoned. With the aid of technology and such, there are lots of muslim dating services online where people get to know each other and there are match making events and stuff at Islamic gatherings. I hope that helps.

Dating is not allowed, especially for young people because it gives them a chance to go through different persons... with the excuse of 'finding' a true love.
But if a person wants to spend time with a prospective partner to get to know her better, he can take her out to dinner, or talk with her personally while maintaining self-privacy and decent behaviour. But you can't call that a 'date', actually.

Muslims can't date, in that they can't have a relationship with physical contact and looking at them without the women properly covering their bodies. They can however get to know others and eventually get married if both consent. Before it was mostly that parents and their children would visit people they knew and the two adults would have to consent after seeing the other. If not, then it was just dinner at a friend's home.

You can "date" so long as there's no sex, physical intimacy or absolute privacy.
In other words, going out casually for a cup of coffee or movie is fine but "sleeping over" at someone's apartment would not be the best choice ;-)
In these matters it is best to use ur discretion. God says to be modest in both dress and conduct and to stay chaste. You should not just date for the fun of it, becuz it hurts ppl in the end. But God does not specifically say "you can't date."

I'd figure a Muslim date would be dangerous as if she was to let an ankle show it would drive the poor guy to thoughts of lust and sin and then he'd have to kill her.
The best a Muslim girl can hope for is a **** that won't get turned on.

I am guessing they can go out on dates, although I guess it might matter what country they live in.
