Christians are always saying that homosexuals are not natural and that god does not approve of them. But how about the many animals in nature that are gay? Like the dwarf chimpanzee, or bonobo, one of humanity’s closest relatives. Or the dolphin or the killer whale? Did these animals somehow become perverted in their life time and get influenced by satan? One would think that what happens in nature would be considered natural, no? I am just confused on your views, please clarify this.

kittykat - my point was, now try and follow this ok? That christians say it isn't natural and it is perversion. Well, how can animals know perversion? And it happens in the wild, so does that not mean it is natural? As for your eating wild animals theory, if humans had to, they would have to hunt and eat wild animals too. We are all animals.

guys, guys, I know we are different than animals, but many christians say it doesn't happen in the wild with animals and it does. Is this really so hard to understand? I mean really?

The problem with christians and humans in general is that they decide the standards by what we live by. They say these things are unnatural because it is barbaric to them. Someone said that animals kill animals and eat the meat raw. yes they do because they do not have the gift of fire to cook it. And if animals did not kill other animals for food the animals that eat plants would overpopulate and destroy the earth. Someone also mentioned their husband killing their son. Generally a male will kill another's offspring so he can instead impregnate the female so that it will be HIS offspring. Someone mentioned the grasshopper pulling the head off of it's mate. The problem is that humans especially religious fanatics do not see that there are in fact other cultures than our own. Any culture that is different than theirs is considered unnatural. The civilized people of europe thought that native tribes were savage because of their rituals, beliefs, and ways of life. Animals have their cultures too so the way they behave is perfectly "lawful" to them. Of course unlike humans the animals are governed by nature. humans, somewhere in our evolution have strayed out from that government to create our own. Human's have an unnatural notion that they have to control everything and anything outside of their control is unnatural. Look at what we've done to this planet. We've paved natural wetlands, cut down forests that have been here for thousands of years, turned lush abundant land into desert. So if one thinks about it, WE are the ones that are unnatural. Animals know their place in nature do you?

I read both articles and found them quite interesting. I don't know what my position on "animals" (other than human) homesexuality is but I think that homosexulity is unnatural but just because something is unnatural does not make it ethically wrong and just because something is natural doesn't make it ethically right. Homosexuality, given the day and age and the population, has nothing ethically wrong with it. There would however be a crisis if some disease were to,say, kill a lot of people and the moajority of whom survived were homosexuals. But in such a case I suppose the natural instinct would override and the population would procreate until it is safe for some to be homosexual again. But then again such a scenario is an impossibility- highly unlikely- so give the homosexuals their freedom.

They aren't. Animals tend to be driven on instinctual and survival mentality. Many mammalian species, especially the males, will attempt to procreate with almost anything when the time of the season for them to do such things occurs. Homosexual behavior typically occurs in weak individuals of a population that are unable to secure a mate, captivity in which the depression alone can cause strange behavior, and occasionally physical brain damage or abnormal brain growth. In the case of people, sexuality is not a primal urge that is uncontrollable or all men except for those with mental disorders would find themselves raping women mostly and possibly men left and right. Thus with people sexuality is a conscious choice usually as a result of some form of courtship in normal behavior, the urge to procreate occurs in most of the population but some people choose pleasure over survival because humans are curious and sinful unlike animals. Of course some people do rape, solicit, or deceive people to achieve sexual stimulation but most would not consider this morally or ethically acceptable. Most of these things are either a result of a physical brain disorder or a result of emotionally traumatic events in their childhood, such as no male or female guardian or influence.

Animals don't choose who to 'mate' with, they are totally subject to instinct/ hormones - no choices going on there, and they don't need to perceive right/wrong, and cannot enter into relationship with the Living God. In the same we we perceive pedophilia as degenerate for the reasons we do, we see or try to see certain things the way God sees them, because when we throw up our hands, we could 'catch hell.' There is a hell to pay for the unrepentant, unbelieving, disobedient, drunkard, pervert, etc. 2Timothy3 (The Word of God speaks to the believer, not to the unbeliever, but some might 'hear' and live). The wicked will become more wicked and someday, perhaps pedophilia will be acceptable. God forbid!

Animals don't know the difference between right and wrong, so while they are confused in their mating habits, that does not make it normal. If it was supposed to be that way, then species would become extinct because there could be no reproduction. Just as with Down's Sydrome people there is an extra chromosome which causes them to have the facial and physical features they do and the mental retardation they have, that doesn't mean they were supposed to be that way or that it is normal to be so. It is a fluke of nature when someone is born outside of the realm of how God intended. Because there is sin in the world, then the world is imperfect, including animals and humans alike. The difference between animals and humans however, is that we humans understand the difference between right and wrong and animals do not. When animals attempt to mate with the same sex, they get nowhere. When humans do it, they are sinning. Just because one might be predisposed to a particular behavior, does not make it normal or right, nor does it make it natural.

Please know that I am not judging you for your beliefs. That's not my place to judge you any more than it is for you to judge me for my beliefs. I don't claim perfection - far from it. I'm only saying that just because something happens in the wild doesn't mean it's natural. Abnormal behavior happens in all species - that doesn't make it normal, healthy or okay. It just makes it common.

Now, lest anyone blast me for my Down's Syndrome illustration, my brother had Down's Syndrome and he died. I loved him dearly. I'm not insulting people with this condition. I'm merely using it as an illustration to say that nature isn't perfect (as a result of sin) and biological abnormalities do happen.

Common sense should suggest that nature has clearly defined that homosexual encounters by any species carry a very specific degree of abnormality because they defy the primary function for a sexual encounter in the first place, which is for the purpose of procreation.

In our society, more and more people have begun to value sexual pleasure more than procreation. Logic would suggest that homosexuals were crucial in advancing this particular system of values as their lifestyle sets an example which renders sex for procreation as completely irrelevent, thus helping to advance a system of values who's consequences have caused much suffering. Included in this are both the spread of sexually transmitted disease, and the growth of the world's human population to a point where the ecosystem can not sustain it.

To Christians this evidence stands as proof of God's word, and this is why they denounce homosexuality, and consider marriage a sacred bond that can only be shared by a man and a woman. They find it necessary to view procreation not only as the primary purpose for sex, but also the intended reason for sex.

What is your point? I don't say whether or not animals have sin. I don't use this argument you are trying to debunk. But okay...... I will grant your argument and reply: Does that mean animals should be granted gay marriage benefits? There is a big difference between tolerating and endorsing behavior that is considered unrighteous. I do not wish for gays to be persecuted at all, they should enjoy civil liberties. I just do not grant the idea that homosexuality is perfectly fine or without impurity. Is that so hard to understand? I think it is immoral. I don't want to have them burned at the stake or anything. I think it is sad that many of them are persecuted and I would stand with them against oppression, but I do not endorse what they do.

Dear ComaWhite,

Animals have a different sense of right and wrong from human beings. Most of their actions are based on positive and negative reinforcement. Animals do not have the capacity to know God and to reason out moral decisions.

The Bible does not say Homosexuals are unnatural but the act of homosexuality is not a natural thing. God does not approve of homosexuality but He does love homosexuals (i know that may be hard to accept- because i know that homosexuals have endured their share of condemnation from believers). i have some homosexual friends and i love them dearly- but i can not change the fact that homosexuality is clearly shown in God's word to be something which is contrary to God's design (if we look at the pieces anatomically they don't fit).

When the Bible refers to homosexuality as unnatural- it refers to God's design of sexual relationships to be within two contexts: one being marriage, and the other being between a man and a woman. It's not talking about base-natural actions.

Anyhow thank you for posting this question. And i hope that i've answered sufficiently. i realize that you may not agree with some of the things that i've said- but just doing my best to answer your question and to help clarify...

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Kitty-kat, his question was not asking is it okay to be gay, but rather how do the christians get away with saying it's unnatural to be a homo.

But also, Christians believe in god... which is the supernatural, so they should really be down with the man-man love. (if you were right.. but you're not)

But the thing is, nature is not monogamous like humans. So they can go get some sweet action from the same sex but also go and mate that would be more natural.

You should have read your sources in their entirety.
"She argues that female macaques may enhance their social position through homosexual intimacy which in turn influences breeding success. Parish says, "Taking something that's nonreproductive, like mounting another female—if it leads to control of a resource or acquisition of a resource or a good alliance partner, that could directly impact your reproductive success.""
--national geographic.

Also, you mention animals closer to humans as if that strengthens your case. These animals, like the chimps and dolphins, who have a more highly developed brain, would be able to think for themselves, and be better equipped to defy their own instincts.

Honestly, these articles are to prove a point and aren't really telling the whole truth.
1) Animals will act in what we see as sexual ways for the purpose of dominating another animals. Like what a dog will do to your leg . It is forcing an act upon you to become alpha.
2) Most animals do not get pleasure from sexual acts. Cats will scream in pain from the act.
3) if they are together as a couple, they do so more for protection then for pleasure.

People need to stop placing human emotions and actions onto animals. This is not the only concern with this sexual stuff but this mind set does lead to people abusing animals for their sexual gain.
Also placing human emotions and feelings on animals does in fact with dogs create behavior problems.
Animals are just that animals, I love them. As I have a house hold full, but this whole idea is to spread an agenda. Plain and simple.
