I adopted a cat a month ago and found out on Monday that she has ringworm. I am waiting for her oral medication to arrive, but in the meantime is it safe to use Lamisil on her ears and tail, where the ringworm is present? I am covered in ringworm patches and using Lamisil so thought it might help her a little until her oral medication arrives. Is it safe, if I rub it in all the way and monitor her licking on those areas?

A lot of human meds are toxic to animals so it's best to call a vet and ask if that is alright. He will tell you if it is and how much of a dose to give them. Never give an animal over the counter meds without consulting a vet.

Lamisil is safe for cats, had persians for years. Also Monistat cream like women use for yeast infections works also. Monistat is the same active ingredient as in Mycatin for athlethe's foot. Be careful with the oral medicine, it damages liver if it is not monitored closely. Lyme Dip is safer & works better. Does turn a white cat yellow for a while, but works great. use a big collar & don't let them lick Lyme dip. After they are dry, you can take collor off.

It's not a good idea to use human medicine on animals. You should be able to get some sort of topical medication from the vet.

(You're covered in ringworm, too? Maybe you should be looking for some oral medication for yourself... A dermatologist should be able to help you.)

I wish you and your cat good health.

I'd check with the vet first, that's an excellent product for humans, but we don't lick it off either. It would help the ringworm, but she will swallow at least some of it, especially off the tail, and it may be toxic to her that way.
