Hi, I'm in the market for a 6.8 SPC AR-15 and I was looking at a few different makers. I'm especially interested in Rock River Arms, but I've heard some very different opinions on them and the website doesn't give me as much information as I would like. If any of you could help me out by telling me some of the features..ie M4 style feed ramp? on Rock River Rifles I'd appreaciate it. Thanks

Hey! Rock River Arms makes a fantastic gun! In my opinion, they are better than the standard military issue AR-15 style rifles. I believe they make a M4 style feed ramp in some models, but I'm not positive!
The gunrange at which I am currently employed has a RRA and it is great! I say go for it!
Hope this helps!
Best of luck!

You may hear a lot of "stuff" from mall ninjas and arm chair commandos. Rock River got the DEA govt contract a couple of years ago on a competive bid. I know the Govt is famous for buying "low price" but this bid was competive and Rock River won on a cost-spec- performance basis. I d not know if Rock River buys any parts from vendors these days or produces every thing in house. In the other major brands... it would not be uncommon to find the same vendor parts in any make of AR rifle. I love the AR platform... but if you want one to run right it has to be clean. The bolt group just won't tolerate a lot of carbon and dirt if you want the gun to run right. Most of the AR's I've shot worked a little better "wet" with lubrication... and those rifles will shoot dry after a few dozen rapid fire strings. Cheap or out of spec mags are will cause a lot of headaches in the AR... feed lips have to be the correct dimension and good springs are needed to feed the cartridges correctly. I have done OK with the GI (green follower, 20rd) magazines -- but have found a few used ones with wide feed lips that did not work right. Build you RR parts with confidence. Follow instructions, work with the correct tools, and clean your rifle as needed.

I built AR's on several different lowers, including Rock RIver arms. I did not notice an lack of quality on there receiver vs any other quality receiver, with one exception, the "pin holes" seemed to me all slightly too tight. I had to open them up a little to ensure proper fit of the pins.

rock river makes a fine receiver as ar-15/m-16 parts go however you can get the same quality and pay less for it from other sources.i have built guns with DPMS, FN, Colt, Ameetec, and several others.they are all very similar as far as quality goes.parts for ar-15/m-16 family guns are all standardized with a very few exceptions.do yourself a favor build your gun yourself.
it's not hard and at the end you will have bragging rights that you built it.the total cost is significantly lower than buying a full gun.

My father has a Rock river arms Lower reciver on his AR-15 pistol. It works fine.Find out if Rockriver arms has a contract to make weapons for the fed government. If they do I'd say its good for sure.Because all those companies have to make those weapons to gov specs. So they are all pretty much the same. There are some companies that make crap though and I bet they arnt making there weapons for the gov.
