I usually go barefoot to the movies and so far noone has said anything. It is much more relaxing and the carpet feels nice

Yes, I always go barefoot, so while I don't go to the movies often, when I do I'm barefoot. In spite of persistent myths, going barefoot in public is not gross or dangerous. Feet get very tough very quickly and are fully washable! Ethically speaking, too many people confuse anything that doesn't follow the current social norm with bad manners or lack of respect. That is unfortunate; alternative appearance gives more color to life. Imagine how boring it'd be if we'd all be wearing the same thing! Personally I even find a gentle, soft, silent barefoot step much more respectful than the careless, unfeeling step of a thick-soled boot or the slap-slap of flipflops.

Several times. I don't go to the movies a lot but I've been barefoot everywhere for the past ten years and I've gone to a few movies, last was the 5th Harry Potter. Which had a brief barefoot scene in it by the way; Luna Lovegood is barefoot for a bit in one scene & she explains to Harry that her classmates have hidden her shoes. But she doesn't make a big deal out of it and that's just how it should be, barefoot isn't a big deal. It's not dangerous or unhealthy or gross; feet get very tough very quickly and they're fully washable!

Nasty! You know why? Mega germs with all the traffic, food, drinks that have been spilled on the carpet. If you were to take a sample from the rug and look under a microscope you would never go barefoot in public again other than the beach, a pool or your lawn.

Yeah, I'm a full time barefooter and I havent had anyone tell me to leave a theatre because I'm barefoot. There have been a few other places that thought there are health codes regarding this and I have a letter from my state health department stating that there is in fact no code or law regulating what customers are to wear on thier feet. When I enlighten them about this fact they let me go about my business.
