Probably not. Once a dog understands that they can kill a cat, then it becomes like a game to them. Even if the dog acted sociable around the cat for a while, you would still never be able to trust him. It's the animal instinct that will drive a dog to chase a cat, a cat to chase a mouse, etc.

What breed is it? Some breeds naturally do that. Jack Russels commonly kill cats.
