So - you need to contact your State Employment Agency - they are the ones who help with this type of wrongdoing.

He is NOT supposed to lie about your work history (and it sounds like he is) but he CAN legally tell people who call if he would rehire you or not.

You need to talk to the State and perhaps, to an employment law lawyer (this is a specialty unto itself ... the laws vary a LOT between states!)

File for unemployment while you are waiting and talk to the you NEXT potential employer up front. Don't give this idiot's contact info to them without revealing this all very honestly. They might believe you.

Best of luck

i believe each and all of the information a former company is permitted to offer is in spite of in case you worked there and for how long. Giving critiques that result your existence in a detrimental way is slander. i could surely touch a criminal expert and talk with them approximately this. maximum legal specialists provides you with a unfastened consultation and then does not charge you any money except they convey at the same time for you. i understand from adventure that there are some employers accessible that are actually clueless to the legalities of freeing worker information. I worked for somebody like this earlier. i could additionally placed on destiny applications that they shouldn't touch this company. Or if there is somebody else they could talk with i could placed them down. If every person questions it merely tell them that your final company replaced into not satisfied which you left and has been spreading undesirable rumors approximately you. yet determine to touch a criminal expert and placed a end to this. No telling what proportion different lives she is destroying. She needs to appreciate that she would not rule the worldwide.

Explain the situation to future employers that you were fired as soon as he found out you were going to file a harassment charge. I would put that on any job application, too.

Former employers can only provide info regarding your employment dates and position. They cannot answer any other questions. If they do, and you can prove this, you have a nice lawsuit. Good luck.

I'd definitely stop listing him as a previous employer. Don't give anybody a reason to call him.
