if Mary is regarded so highly because she is the mother of Jesus, then shouldnt Mary's mother be even greater than Mary?
this is the worst form of idolatry and satan at his best and most deceptive.
Many are called, but few are chosen(mathew 22:14)
Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" (luke 18:8) - funny question Jesus asked.
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (Matthew 7:14 )
Mary cannot mediate between you and God because:
there is only one mediator between man and God- Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5).
in the early church, Mary was hardly mentioned. and not thought of as anything beyond a deciple of Jesus. Now she has replaced Jesus.
If you play with fire you will get burned(for eternnity)

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.
The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.
Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.
As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.
Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.
Asking others to pray for you whether your loved ones on Earth or your loved ones in heaven is always optional.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 946 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p5.htm#946

It's a big misconception that Catholics only pray to the Virgin Mary. Catholics respect her as a motherly figure, and therefore, there's nothing wrong in praying to her. It's just like praying to other saints.

Yes it is true and any answer to the contrary is deliberately misleading.
Any mention of the Communion of Saints by Catholic apologists, pr agents and spin doctors is totally irrelevant to this question. So too is any argument that Mary is just considered one of the more important saints of the church.
Catholics worship, I mean as a Goddess- Mary as Queen of Heaven. That is precisely how she is viewed and many, thousands of churches have statues of Mary with a crown in recognition of this official catholic position.
This of course, is an unbroken worship of the dreaded “Queen of Heaven” to which children have been sacrificed for thousands of years. The lineage is:
Saviour =Attis Virgin Mother =Cybele Religion =Turkey/Anatolia 2100 BCE
Saviour =Tammuz Virgin Mother =Inaana,Ishtar Religion =Mesopotamia 2000 BCE
Saviour =Shamgar Virgin Mother =Anat Mari, Religion =Syria 2000 BCE
Saviour =Horus Virgin Mother =Isis Religion =Egypt 1900 BCE
Saviour =Horon Virgin Mother =Astarte/Ashtoreth Religion =Phoenicia/Syria 1500 BCE
Saviour =Jesus Virgin Mother=Mary Religion =Christianity 44 CE
The worship of Mary as “Queen of Heaven” has nothing to do with Jesus.
The site of St. Peter’s Basilica is on top of the original centre of ancient worship of Cybele- Mother Goddess during the Roman Empire. The partner of Cybele is Dagon also known as “Satan” in the Horon, Astarte model of the same Mother Goddess.
The High Priest of Cybele always wore white, while the priests worshipping Dagon (the fish god) wore Mitre hats, precisely the same as the modern bishops and cardinals of the Catholic Church.
The Vatican Hill, or Mons Vatis Canus translates directly as “Hill of the white haired soothsayer” in honor of its location as the temple of Cybele and secret human sacrifice.
2000 years later, nothing has changed.

Mother of God is the most blessed woman of all times. She is holy, yes, just as Abraham, Isaak, Jacob, Moses, all the prophets, the holy apostles of Christ and many other people of faith. God knows. Catholics really worship holy Mary, as orthodox church do also. This is not a single thing what they do not according to the Gospel. Read for yourself what is written in the New Testament: " ... if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. "...........Revelation 22:18,19. " ...Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar. "...........Proverbs 30:5,6.
It is very important to follow the truth exactly. The piles of superfluous rules are not necessary. We can't fulfill everything what God commanded and there is no need to fulfill all commandments that devised people.

In Revelation 5:8 it says:
"And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints."
Clearly, those in heaven are able to present our prayers to Christ. We ask Mary and the other saints to pray FOR us, not to grant our prayers themselves.
It also says in the Bible that the prayer of a righteous man carries much weight with God. The saints are certainly righteous-- therefore we want them to pray for us.

Mary has found favor with God because of Her obedience and love of God . She suffered for God by watching Her son tortured and murdered on the cross. We pray / talk to Her as an intercessor. And God has give Her power to help us if we say the rosary. There are 15 promises that She makes to those who will say the rosary. She keeps Her promises. I know because I am a recipient of two of those promises. And you can take that to the bank.

They are wasting their time because MARY cannot hear a word they say. And even if she could, she couldn't do anything for them!
Mary was a flesh and blood sinner just like you and me!
I laughed out loud when I read the post that said we don't pray TO Mary, we ask her to pray FOR us. In order to ask Mary anything one has to pray TO her! LOL
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Ti 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Christians pray TO Father God THROUGH His Son Jesus - end of story.

I know i"m gonna get a thumbs down. Live a day in my life and you will see praying is useless.
What's it gotten me? I live in hell each day, can't walk and will only get worse. I have kids how the "H" do you think this affects them? 'they remember the ole mom that could run, work and just be there. NOW? I just pray (yeah) that the day lets me sleep in order 4 me 2 be out of pain 4 a bit.
(the one that keeps giving the thmbs down on what he/she does not understand and YES that includes a joke "may god have mercy on your soul")
Again I say....how does this help my kids? They just see mom getting worse, and 2 top it off their 2 grandads died within a year to almost the day of each other. Pray? yeah

Because they have been taught to. Catholicism is Pagan religious practices mixed with Christianity.
There prayers are in vain. Mary does not hear them.
She was highly favored of God but is where all the saints have gone who have died, awaiting judgment so that we may receive a glorified body to rule and reign as priests in the new heavens and new earth. The City Abraham sought who's builder and maker was God.
Blessings.
