If one follows the rules of the Society realationship with Worldly people is frowned apon and according to what I've have told if your not a witness your looked apon has a Wordly person. To me that's sad, being that their is 7 billion peopld apon the earth, and just 7 millions witnesses. that means that you can only hope to have a close realationship with 1 out of every 10000 people on this earth.

Your question is right on the mark.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses have such extreme views?

Well first let me take this time to let you know that if you go to http://www.360.yahoo.com you can setup your very own Yahoo! 360 account and make statements about your beliefs to your hearts content, however this is Yahoo! Answers. They prefer you either ask a question or answer one. Just lettin you know.

Now in response. It is true that as Christians we feel our closest associates should people with similar interests, but then don't most people. It is true that their is roughly 1 out of everyone 1,000 persons who is a baptised active Witness. Now beyond that number there are persons who come, but haven't been baptised yet, interested ones, etc.

Honestly I know some people love to fish. Chances are, if this is "their thing" they will mostly gravitate towards people who fish, and who will be encouraging them. Being followers of the Bible is big in our lives, so doesn't it make sense that we gravitate towards others along that line.

Another thing to consider is, area/location. It is a big world, though seems smaller and smaller. Chances are, if you tried you couldn't meet and get to know 3 things about most of the people on the planet if you tried. So it doesn't seem like not being busom buddies with millions of people is that odd a concept.

Hope this helps.

Many Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy close friendship, even sibling-like intimacy, with non-Witness friends. This certainly implies that the non-Witness is relatively wholesome, but there is no "cut-off point" for measuring some minimum of that quality.

(1 Corinthians 15:33) Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits.

Each individual and family head among Jehovah's Witnesses decides for himself with whom he will socialize, although Witnesses do not do so with disfellowshipped former Witnesses. It is entirely false to suppose that any elder among Jehovah's Witnesses would take it upon himself to dictate with whom an adherent should associate, even closely.

(2 Corinthians 1:24) Not that we are the masters over your faith, but we are fellow workers for your joy

My best friend is a Jehovah witness and I am not. My mothers best friend is a Jehovah witness and she was not.

Most if not all religions would rather have people in that religion stay friend or only hang out with people of that religion.

I wish people would stop picking on JW's.. !!

Dear friend,
I do not think this is true. If JWs separate themselves from other
people how come they are expanding worldwide? JWs follow
truly christ like attitude in witnessing to others. The bible studies that they conduct with other than JWs is the proof of it. They are selfless giving time and energy and money in this voluntary service work which shows that they care.
sincerely

Everything you say is true.............and tommy too..i dare not lie

define close relationship? marriage? friendship? we don't hate those of other faiths. as a matter of fact, the world wide preaching work is to share the good news with all nations.....just as jesus showed us. i have many friends of other faiths, but we don't have too much incommon. and they are not always upbuilding, sort of like the slanderous poster that calls names. those aren't people that i would hang out with. simply because we have nothing in common.

i live in a surfing community and i do not hate those that spend their time involved in soccer or badminton. just about everyone i knows surfs, and that is our common bond.

as it happens, most of these folks happen to be white except for me, a guy named montoya, and a black guy. doesn't mean i'm elitest or racist. these are just the people i have a life in common with. just like jehovah's witnesses. they are my brothers and sisters.

what a funny question. birds of a feather........................

I am a witness of Jesus not Jehovah, so my comments are not to be seen as official.
You are right in your statement above. Since they view themselves as the only ones having truth, it is hard for anyone else to come to their perceived level.

Because if they listen to others, leaders might lose control as followers 'wake up" and figure out the scam of religion.

Physical and ideological isolation is a form of control. And humans always like a good xenophobe.

That is totally true. And not only "worldly" people, but JW's believe they are the one and only true Christian denomination, and that all others are false.

And don't dare you JW's come and post and say otherwise, because I know this for a fact.

Don't dare lie.

Jehovah Witness is just another cult. It's just another way to keep people under their control.
