My 2 year old cat loves catnip. Afterwards though, he is mean as a snake. So, he rarely gets it. But, does anyone have any idea why it has such an adverse affect on him. My other cat has no ill affects afterwards.

By mean I mean he'd eat us alive if he could. He could be the star of Steven King's "Pet Semetary".

If he were human, he'd be a "mean drunk".

Meaning that he's fine until you get some mood altering chemicals into him, then he starts brawling and beating his wife and kids.

Don't let him have it.
Get cat grass or spearmint.

Some cats get to be mean drunks on the stuff.

You can just not give him any more, that would take care of it. Or you could give him so much he starts to loose the interest in it. Usually having it around for two weeks or more takes all the fun out of catnip for most cats. They only respond to the fresh picked kind then, as the dry stuff isn't worth getting excited about anymore.

He feels really good after the catnip. Some have said it is like us injecting a drug.
