Those of you that believe that you get what you deserve and that god gives you only what you could handle, what could an 8 year old little girl do that deserves to get her raped and how do you think that she got what she could handle? This is exactly why I am an atheist today.

I've had many Christians tell me that a minor who doesn't attend church on Sunday has committed just as great an evil as a child molester and that those children therefore deserve to be raped and molested and have no right to speak out against the pedophile after it happens.

They use phrases like "all sins are equal in the eyes of God" to justify that insane idea.

It is one of the many reasons why I despise Christianity.

If everyone only got what they deserved there would be no sin.
It is because men are evil that the innocent suffer.
God has promised that He will one day judge every thought, word and deed of men and hold them to a strict account.
If you are an atheist you trifle with the eternal welfare of the naive. For this you must give an account. Jesus said it would be better to have a millstone tied around your neck and to be thrown into the midst of the sea rather than to cause a child who believes in Him to stumble in their faith.

This has happened to some Christian women also and yet somehow God has given them grace to forgive their attacker and let go of their bitterness. I don't understand it and I am sorry for you. Maybe God will use you to minister to someone else it happened to some day. God does not give us what we deserve. He gives us mercy when we receive Christ into our lives. And apparently you did handle it because you survived. Life isn't fair but in the end God will make it all make sense if you have faith. I'll pray for you.

I'm a theist and don't believe that you get what you deserve and that God gives you only what you can handle. I think you bailed early.

There are tough questions but that doesn't make theism wrong. It just makes it hard. And all the best things in life are hard.

If there is a God who sees the suffering of his believers and does nothing, he is a monster.
If there is a God who sees the suffering of his believers and does nothing he is impotent or does not exist.

I believe the latter.

This was not the will of God. An evil man has done this, not a servant of God.
